The wikis are very unclear about this imo, I know that Explosive Charges (aka C4) can be looted from killing Red Animals, what about Explosives (ingredient for C4), can we get it from Red Animals? Some wikis say yes, it can---> [url]http://rust.wikia.com/wiki/Explosives[/url]

You can only get explosive (the ingredient) from airdrops unless the server is running a modified script.
Yup, on stock server it's airdrop drop (redundancy, yay) only.

So on a low pop server, I will never get an explosives :( - cause no airdrops?
I do believe you can loot the explosive component from creatures also. Just very very rare. On our server before the wipe our airdrop limit was never met. But someone did loot the explosives
