An idea to replace the red bears/wolves would be some sort of mutant creature, that unlike the bears and wolves had a small weak spot that if you hit would insta kill them. Also, having a mutant in a radiated area would make a lot more sense that having a bear and wolf.
Sometimes 'Late' doesn't seem like it's enough. I wish there was a post rating that looked like a little dead, beaten horse. That's also been buried for a couple weeks.
I'm sure they already have a idea they're working on. Otherwise, why hint at a reveal? or are you expecting them to reveal nothing? While mutant can be mutiple things, most people are wanting zombie-like mutants, which Garry said he wouldn't do because it'd just be a zombie reskin and therefor...zombies! which arn't going to be in game. Now if you ment like giant 10 foot two headed cyclops human, then yea, that'd be sweet. But doubtful

Giant shack stomping pachyderms that taste like chicken.
On particularly bad days, they roam/hunt in herds.
