Preventing the "pulls out a shotgun out of his ass" paradox.

I have been thinking, that rust lacks something very vital which would make it less KOS PVP. It is the trust in each other, well mostly strangers, which has faaar less possibilities of strengthening here (like putting up hands or laying on the ground), than dayz and his clone bros do. I am now mainly speaking of the paradox mentioned in the title.
We need the gaming element which dayz and his clone bros already implemented since they existed: That the weapons, and huge tools in your inventory are SHOWN on your character for other players. Also, the more stuff at you, more your backpack size grows.
Believe me, implementing atleast that feature would DECIMATE unneeded fresh spawn kills. Further improvement would be something like hands up, which position would slow you down in case you are reaching out for your gun, which your enemy can see before its in your hands, and shoot, so you no longer be able to just spontaneously say "friendly!" and start shooting. Currently, we rely on the other people WAY MORE than real life.
i dont think it would matter much
people still like to be dicks and kill fresh spawns or unarmed people

But you know, the community is pretty much similar to the ones in dayz. There would be A LOT of people who tried atleast a few times not to gun down everyone, if they knew, that the other guy wont just pull a full kevlar out of his stomach, and a minigun out of his mouth.
What about knocking at doors, and asking a guy to come out? You could even let him in, if you see no gun at him, or trade if he takes his hands up.
Half of the community would not give a fuck, but there are thousands who would try behaving less hostile. It is really not that hard to implement IMO.

Although I commend your idea I find it hard to believe this social experiment would work.
As stated, by clef, people use video games as an alter ego. In this style of game there is much more blood shed because people won't do it in real life. It is a release.
In this game , as it stands are many ways you can use "body language" to avoid death, not always but there are ways.
Some of it is just plain common sense.
Names are an issue and have been but know that they will make a return, eventually. If you are a cool person, active in the community and are generally respectful and polite in open channel people will see that it is you and "may" not kill you.
Running at someone with the barrel of your shotgun looking down their throat is not the most "friendly" approach
I just think you can avoid confrontation a lot of the times. I know I have. But when I have to fight, I have to fight

This social experiment? Its not alot different then what it is now (If a guy is covered in clothing and armour you can see it) it just adds the fact that you can see weapons.
Im not sure about how the backpack thing would work, seeing as we dont even have backpacks yet. But I agree that there should be a limit of how many weapons you can carry (I would say 2 mains and 1 pistol) and only the weapons on your belt can be equipped (stuff in your backpack you cannot see but you also cant pull them out quickly)

There are 3 types of approach for me. First, is when we tear each other into peaces. Second, is that that type meeting, when we freeze for a moment, and neither of us shoots for some occasions, and we usually go foward on our ways. The third one, I want to achieve, is scacre, it mostly just happens with the people who have the time to explain themselves in front of my closed house, or I decide to team up one talking through chat.
There are almost zero meetings like in dayz (though i did not play it), where you see lot of people meeting up, and not harming each other, or even roleplay a bit. It would just give another feature for the game, and make it so, you would be able to atleast SEE if that naked dude with a rock has a fkin flint-shotgun, or a rocket launcher. Believe me, people would use it for this, or for that, and have some success with it, and even be able to implement something like you are able to loot him without killing that guy on meeting him, if he takes his hands up.
But that prestige-based shit is not that fkin delighting, and fun. What is even more delighting than that, is the moment, when you meet a completely stranger guy, and hell, even became his friend. There is almost no chance for that now, and there would be atleast more chance for that with these implementations.
Not just your alter ego and undone desires are which make you a killing machine. The pve-pvp-pvn(player versus nature) balance of the game is another thing. I dont know if you would butcher at a big rad, if the sound would attract an BOSS, barely destructible, or if you would risk a melee-fight if you go auto-sleep due to fatigue, and freeze in the winter-biome. Currently, the scene is given, and it supports merely pvp fights, it will remain pvp till development goes further. It is like I thought, and it was told, that dayz's zombies are a threat, hearing weapons from kilometres, and coming in hordes if not very caotious. In reality, they are just buggy, irritating shit good for nothing but killing off 5 minute fresh spawns, not even that.

I've seen large groups meet up randomly and do some bizarre and/or just very organized activities. You would think that someone who wanted to do something different would be killed but it is quite the opposite. You see that people who do something different get followers and most people just let them be to an extent. I can find you plenty examples of cooperation from large groups on public servers. With the ability to give bags now, this has really opened up this type of gameplay. A person on my server created the "gay sex palace" where a ton of people would spawn in at certain times -people that would not otherwise interact peacefully- and take part in a role playing 20 person gay orgy.
This kind of role play (not necessarily the gay orgy one), happens a lot even on official servers where no admins are present.
