How long does usually takes for server to "recover" from ddos?

Server where we play is under attacks as of yesterday.. at least that's the latest news..

server is on multiplay..

do you have experience how long till they resolve this kind of issue?
i understand every situation is different, and it depends of how long little pricks keep attacking, but there must be some way how they resolve it..
move server to another one, or block attacks or something third..

if you have some info i am thankful for replys..
