Ceilings on foundations with pillars in the middle?

Currently, you cannot place a ceiling with a pillar placed on the center of the foundation directly underneath it. This kinda limits the things you can do when building your base. My base right now is kinda incomplete mainly because I have to leave one whole floor before I can put on a ceiling. Meaning if the raiders raid my base, they can simply build to the top floor and blow the wall, then jump onto the pillar missing at the top floor. I hope that we eventually get this ability but what do you guys think?
Ty for reading ^^
Why do you have to leave one whole floor before you can put on a ceiling?
This should never happen. If ceilings can get placed over middle pillars it will open the possibility to unraidable bases, which I personally don't think should be possible at all.

Not sure, the devs have made it that way. Try it out if you want. Use 5 pillars on a foundation, put 4 at its corners and 1 in the middle. Then try put a ceiling on. The game just doesn't allow it :c
Have you tried not placing pillars in the center of the foundations? Pretty much the only reason I have seen for placing them there is around the perimeter of houses/bases due to the fact that you CAN'T build on top of them, making it harder for people to break in. Which is good.
People go to bases just being built and put pillars in center to troll also
i thought you could put the ceiling on first, than put a middle pillar tight to the roof, but maybe im wrong

IDK about unraidable, I mean most people put pillars all the way up the side of their base to prevent raiders building next to them. If you could put ceilings over pillars in the middle then you could also put them in those pillars along the sides of a base. Doing so would allow you to get to any level of their base before c4ing in.

So just put the outside pillars down...put your ceiling on and then put the pillar in the center of the ceiling if you want. I do it all the time.

I haven't tried this before o.o Does it actually work? :P
Even if it does work, once you have a ceiling, you can't put the pillar in the centre of it. Also I put pillars in the centre to basically have 2 walls for the price of one layer of foundations. If you put foundations all along the side of your base, and then place pillars in the centre of each of those foundations, you can wall up by linking the pillars up with walls. Then you could build more walls on the outside by placing the pillars at the corners of the foundations.
Also, it looks quite nice to enter a base and have a pillar in the middle so people rotate around the centre of the room instead of just walking straight. Has aesthetic value ._.
