• Item decay - walls and pillars

So here is what I want to do. Build a wall around my house.. not really for defence, but for fun. Will the wall degrade without a ceiling piece on top? like I was foundation, with single wall around it. Thanks!
Ive made a wall before as well, didnt have a ceiling at all on it just walls on one side and it didnt decay, but I messed with it every other day or so, put a fire on it and turn it off and on every now and again.
Yeah well I kinda figured it would decay after a while, but I'm planning on having a gate and using it ever day etc.. Just didn't want to play 3k worth of wood on something that will be gone in a day :/

Decay is delayed if the segment in question has a fire lit nearby or a door activated on a piece connecting to it via foundations. This only applies to objects on foundations; I have no idea if these rules are passed onto all nearby objects not specifically on the foundation (For example, spike walls surrounding a house). I doubt such is the case, or if it does, then the radius calculation escapes me.
