I would really like to see a lootable/craftable compass implemented in the game.
Navigation in rust is difficult and I am fine with that to some extent BUT I think the compass would be a great feature. (im not talking about a map, or coordinates, or GPS or anything of the sort, just a fucking compass)
using the sun is not ideal because it takes too long to orient which way the sun is moving and sometimes its directly overhead
at night time you can't use the sun..
a compass would be a great way to slightly improve the navigation and meeting up with friends.
I don't think the compass would detract too much from the style of the game but, the developers and players seem to think realism is part of this game, and a compass fits in well with the lore so to speak. a compass is relatively easy to make in the real world and would certainly be a part of a rl situation similar to rust
[B]almost all navigation in this game is done out of memory,[/B] making new/young gamers discouraged with running around forever only to die and have to start all over again. it would be nice to tell a friend "im to the east of x" or "im running west out of hanger" etc..
i also think it would be fun to use, putting it on your hot bar and looking around the world and finding north, etc. or having a new player work towards making a compass so you can explain to them how to meet up with you, or where good places for wood are etc etc
what are the downsides? thoughts?
I would agree with this idea, especially if the map gets changed or additional maps are made.

Yes this pls!! Make it an crafteble item, so you dant start with it. No minimap that would rune the game. But if you're lost a compas is what can help a lot. I've wonders around for 4 hours in the outback it's huge! I diden't want to go suicide because I hade some nice gear on me, I hade 16x cooked chicken breasts and eventually I died of starvation.

Yeh compass would be nice. /location helps a lot but is slow. I just want to know if I am going North or South West
Im sure they are working on an attachment to your Inventory/Craft windows. At least I hope they are, wouldn't be a deal breaker though.
