• Rust getting bored, without good updates. Less people playing, some of them...

...tell, that they are just waiting for new features, new content. I'm playing about month, got my own server and it's really boring without new staff in games. Couple of updates in a month that don't give you nothing new! Just a little fixes, that no body worrying about. And believe me, that in a good controlled server cheaters it's not a number 1 priority. Some anti cheat systems can only bring more problems in game stability. Give us some good news please, release patches with something interesting to test for, please! P.s. - and stop talking about the hard process, and cheaters problem, and what ever else! I think in 1 million sales, developers can hire professional developers for continuous work. P.p.s - also providing for players a game editor will let us enjoy it even more, by creating mods and much more. And please, be transparent for us daily. Create a blog of your everyday work, like a developers diary or something like that. Even if it doesn't apply to the game. Share your life events :words:
That last line kind of freaks me out. You purchased early access to a game in development. You did not purchase the ability to order the developers around, or spy on their lives. They already update pretty frequently, and keep their blog up to date as well. When people ask for this sort of transparency, they tend to be the same people that question everything a developer does. "Why did you buy that book? You should be fixing the netcode." "Why are you in Germany? There's still issues with hacking!"
They are updating the trello everyday and patching the game each week, are you serious ? I don't want to see dumb feature just for the pleasure of adding content.
PROTIP: shut up and play!
You were warned .. That's the thing with all these Alphas at the moment. No one said they're going to push huge updates out every week. That's just how it is. U gotta get used to it. Rust is still a loooooong way from being completed. At the moment they seem to be focusing on the smaller details and improving the look of some of the things in the game. It's not terribly exciting but once it's done I'm sure there will be more interesting updates. Have you seen the trello page? It's updated daily with what's going on behind the scenes which is pretty fun to follow.
I agree with op. They are putting out shit updates. The new sky and water isnt even a big game changer to me. Honestly I could care less about the sky change, it was fine before. Seems more like a finishing touch to me. I havent been playing lately because they havent pushed out any good content. Ive been waiting but nothing so far. Cant believe it sold a million copies. On the newest poll for enemies there is a total of like 1000 votes isnt there? But 1 million people bought this game? Whats up with those numbers? Only 1000 out of a million people check the forum?

ok fairs fair guys it IS alpha. But why are they redesigning the campfire, the furnace, the storage boxes..where is the new content? and before you say it, items with durability is nothing to write home about. When i can collect crates of weapons in 3 days, then durability is not going to change how i play much. I just cannot believe that they would spend time.. in ALPHA.. improving on assets already in game.. it's supposed to be a time to add new features.. not improve on stuff already in game. Someone try and argue with me that alpha's aren't the time to add new features... please. I want to see new mechanics, new assets, new ways to play. But all im seeing now is the gfx dev's spending time on improving existing resources and very little on new ones. Even the new sky is something I'd not want to see dev time on. it's alpha. I can live with pitch black nights. I want to see more of the game fleshed out before you go and improve how the moon looks. I've got a raid proof base (barring the cheaters, and yes.. both exist) and I'm rapidly running out of ways to keep myself entertained in the game, and it appears that true to what garry posted.. they have NFI where the game is going.. and thats why we're seeing barely more then cosmetic work. (Cheatpunch is a complete exception to this.. but the gfx guys aren't exactly essential to that work)

Features have to be layered on top of each other. A sky might not seem important now, but they probably need it to implement something like weather.

I don't think people seem to understand they started reading the book before it was finished. They have written not even half the book, you caught up to where they are at and now you're waiting for them to write more. Every little bit they write isn't enough for you because you want more, more more. If they did little patches every week, that wouldn't be good enough because not enough content is coming in at once and the few little new things you get every week or two weeks get old and boring. If they did one huge content update every few months you'd still get upset you had to wait so long. Just think of it as a book and they are the authors. This is their first book they have written from scratch and they allowed people to start reading it way before it was even close to being done. Be patient. This isn't a billion dollar company developing a game here.
..and before people jump onto it, I realise that new content requires more then gfx work... but really.. where are the ladders that work on half a foundations width of pillars.. where are the hatched ceilings, where are those funky drawbridges seen in concept.. Where are the signs that i have more to look forward to then 3d tetris?
The game is in ALPHA and its only 10% done... so your fault, you should have expected the game being well not perfect and i dont see any problems in it.
Ow, people stop swearing :) All good, just a discussion. Kowalski, what kind of those updates are? Removing zombies, developing some new anticheat system and how Wubbzz told skies and stones? Now are red bears and wolfs dropping loot? lol! Stewie.D I'm agree with you, that I was warned about alpha. But at least do something, because you know that people are playing that alpha, just don't forget about "playability" developing. One developers is responsible for anti cheat developing, another for textures change etc... and just some one for game play - that's all. Just listen to people suggestion, choose something good and at least approve it, show us a news, about game future, what we will see in next week, next month etc... Arsonide, what are you talking about? Spy? Germany? Books? Sorry, but you in wrong thread.
People, you are defending a game in alpha.. that is ALREADY re-doing art assets. Those artists should be pumping out new stuff as quick as they can. Half of it should never make it into game. The other half should.. have you seen the artwork treemo recently? There is NOTHING new (as in, new content) for at least 2 months. Sure its not supposed to show us everything, but cmon.. why tease us with new storage boxes when its the last thing the game needs?
The game is in ALPHA and its only 10% done... so your fault, you should have expected the game being well not perfect and i dont see any problems in it.
IMHO that's an excuse. Alpha, 10%, blablabla. 1) How long? 10% it's about 2 months on the web site. 2) What a goals? Tell us, what we will see in next days/weeks/months. 3) Where we are? After all those updates, we still stuck at 10%, or may be now it's 10.2% / 11% / 20% ?
Arsonide, what are you talking about? Spy? Germany? Books? Sorry, but you in wrong thread.
Books, as in read a few, because your comprehension is lacking. I'm saying you have no stake in the developer's lives.
IMHO that's an excuse. Alpha, 10%, blablabla.
Alpha is an excuse? The next time you're 10% through a fap session and your internet goes down, maybe you'll understand the fallacy of your complaint.
People still do not understand how a business works. This is still one of the best releases ive been part of. And its only alpha. Let them do their work
I don't think their team is very big at the moment. So if people want regular updates the they're only going to be small incremental changes. I'd rather wait a bit longer for a bigger update. I like being able to follow their daily notes on trello but I would love to hear more about the long term plans from them directly. So we know some of the things we can look forward to in the long run.

Thinking about it, it means they have no direction (publically) so they are literally working on the stuff I would never expect to see done until a year after any other game is done. They did remove zombies after all with nothing except painted over bears/wolves textures. FFS they could have made the rabbits into monty python rabbits.. and i would have paid 2x for the game again.. ..so it;s either they have nfi where shit is going, or Garry has us all nicely manipulated and he's going to spring some major changes on us... but I'm not stupid enough to believe that.
I do believe they are working on some bigger things that they don't want to announce yet. But they could still be a while away yet. I know it's kinda dull that they just seem to be improving the look of things at the moment but that's just the way they wanted to do it. Once they've done it they'll work on more exciting things.

We are playing this game because of what the mechanics offer us. We are NOT playing because its the prettiest game out there... and yet here we are.. new grass, new sky, new fires, new furnaces, new resource nodes.. It's time to step up devs.. give the gfx guys something new to implement. Don't make the next thing i see on treemo be something like "new pickaxe model"

There is an engine they are using called unity that has objects in them already that rust is using. They need to make them their own. The "NEW" stuff that you want doesn't do any good if it can't be coded or implemented into the game i dont think its the artwork that is holding up any of the the new features in the game. They have put a ton of stuff out that isn't in the game yet, like patrol helicopter for instance and many others that they don't publicly announce.

It's funny how you guys complain about the updates when you dont even have the decency to read and compreende why they are doing those chances. New sky = They replaced the default and broken sky that we got now and with the new sky i guess we can expect a lot of cool stuff like weather changes and biomes. They area also replacing every single "default" stuff that rust got with their own models and design and to be honest, the new stuff they are making is looking awesome. I'm fairly happy with how they comunicate with us. The blog + trello is perfect for me.
