• Is sleeping bag and bed really needed?

It's to easy to use it to spawn where you want. When you're dead you shoould spawn randomly and make you're way back to your base. You will try to really survive with a lot more effort then. It will put a lot more chalenge. You can no longer be kill and be back to your back pack in a matter of second... We can siege a base then, if we kill to occupant he will not spawn back inside like nothing happen... Suicide should have a cool down also, so you will not suicide until you spawn near where you want. I will like sleeping bag and bed to be remove... Your tough on that.
I dunno. I remember reading somewhere that rust is about building towns (rival towns/bases). Yea I think bed/sleeping bag is a valid spawn point... I mean you can play DayZ, that will give you a run for your items and respawning by the shore with a lint in your pocked. All in all I love Rust and I don't see what is so wrong in Rust mechanics.
if you want them removed rent a server then remove them simple as that. also im sure you can find a server out there that has them removed Crazy

Personally I think the map is a bit too big to do this sort of thing accidentally dieing because you fell of a cliff or something stupid then having to run for up-to 5 minutes just to get back to your base would be both annoying and non noob friendly. Although I do agree that the timer it takes to respawn back at your base should be increased or maybe increase to 6-10 minutes if you die close to your base this would stop the amount of people respawning in there base during a raid
That will make the game much harder, realistic and it will make impossible suicide houses. I am totally agree with you, although I love my suicide base, I will miss it until I figure out another way to make my base as unraidable as it can get with the less amount of resources spent.

What's the point of trying to get items if people are just gonna raid you and steal all of them?
Our sleeping bag is the only way to defend your home, atleast giving you one more shot..
there is nothing wrong with the sleeping bag
I think that maybe they should spawn you in the general area, so it's. Tit more realistic and because then suicide bases won't work anymore. Plus, that way you can't out like 5 bajillion sleeping bags in your house and keep on respawning endlessly.
I think sleeping bags should stay as is but there should be a 5 minute delay when spawning (the first time and every time, not afterwards and only 1 active sleeping bag). People staying dead for a little while would make fights much more manageable and tactical. People placing barricades outside your house (with a sleeping bag behind it) and taking potshots and then respawning with no consequences after dying shouldn't be apart of the game. Also the current implementation of the system allows you to teleport around the map by (having bases around the map with sleeping bags) suiciding.
In a survival game... I think at least you should not be in disavantage if you try to play without suicide and dying all the time... Staying alive should be the main objective and you should be reward for that. The most enjoyable part of Rust for me, is when I first Spawn on e new server... surviving the first day/night because if you die you loose everything. After I place a sleeping bag somewhere I don't really care anymore as I will know where I will respawn and that I will have my stuff near by. I will take an example where bed is completly stupid... A guy build a snipper tower in middle of "hangar" zone and stay in there all day snipping people... I kill him a couple time inside his base but it was useless as he spawn back in, take is gear back and continue without any consequence... after a couple time I give up. Another time I finally was successful at killing a full kev near his base to try to have access to kev suit... but he came back faster than I could run to he's back pack, kill him again but he came back again but this time with a friend to help him... This is stupid. In a survival game... if you die you should suffer some consequence...
Oxameter's idea sounds like a good balance.
