When will the Experimental release date be? Haven't heard any super big update news in a couple of weeks.
[editline]20th May 2014[/editline]
And Im guessing there will be a new map with the Rust 2.0.
Check out their Trello page, it'll give you a good idea of where they're at :)

Hippo is right again. You can also look on their main website for news, or go on the steam page and look for updates.
By "new map" you mean procedurally generated maps, yes, there'll be a new map, and every server will have a different one.
It's already `released`
A better question would be when experimental will replace the old branch, but I'm patient enough not to care.
I was just wondering because I remember in Web Browser and early Steam access there were updates being pushed left and right. And I received my new PC about 2 weeks ago and decided to get Rust, but I realized no updates have been posted. I did try that experimental branch a couple days ago and there wasn't anything there but the base of a game.

Look at playrust.com to see how fast things are changing in the experimental build. It's a complete restart using the lessons and concepts developed in the existing version. Tons of things are changing in experimental, it just hasn't caught up to the old version yet, so it's not ready to replace it.
I know. I was just wondering when the experimental branch would become the actual game.
When more people are playing experimental than the other version.

Good marketing would be to make it available to all before you reach that stage, to maximise profit.

Guess what
IMO, when some "basic" things will be "stable" (like crafting, sound, building), the experimental branch should be easier to access, even if it's still filled with a crapton of bugs. For example, having a new "game" for the exp branch in your Steam list, like "Left 4 Dead 2 Beta", but with the precision that it's still very early development.
People would try it more often (the current download and re-download is a PITA), more people would also learn about it, you would have more feedbacks, and hopefully it would go faster.
But in the current state, it's best to keep it "hidden" from the casual player's view.
The reason for this last month of no updates is this. When Rust first started out, Garry pretty much bought the game. Everything that you were playing on was purchased through the Unity assets store. The main character model, clothes, animations, building structures, zombies, animals and so on. Now they are trying to actually make their "own game" meaning coding. This is something that takes months to complete(look at H1Z1). So if Rust is something you would like to play then be patient, because there isn't going to be a build like we play now for a few months.

I tried to play it but I couldn't start it (unknown launch error).
Do experimental branch have any online server now ? Rust do not show any server for me, just saying: "Updating.. Found 106 servers."
It would be great if anyone could give me official experimental branch Rust server ip adress with port.
//edit: Just before anyone start posting like turn off firewall etc. i've already done this, even antivirus is off, i was playing before, only now i cant find server. Also i was searching at forum for server ip but i can't find it.
I assume the real question should be : When will the experimental branch be "playable". They are updating experimental on daily basis.I like how they are doing.
Honestly they are doing more progress than ever. They are also speeding everything up since they hired a lot of nice new people.
The more people testing the experimental branch and reporting errors, bugs, problems and issues = beter. a LOT of people have rust on their accounts. When the game gets " ready " to be played there i'm 100% sure everyone will come back to rust lol.
Believe me.. you can save garry a lot of time if you report a problem correctly and detailed. It's way better than the usual " game is broken garry fix it ! ".

Sorry, what? :pwn:
Wouldn't more people play it once it reaches a playable state?
Circular logic is circular.

The normal branch is the finished version of Rust 1.0, to get all the updates like before you need to get on the experimental branch (Rust 2.0) I think..

I don't play the legacy version at all but I'm on the experimental branch almost daily. Usually not for long but as things progress a greater number of people will be like me. When that number becomes the majority it's probably become the "actual" game in any sense that matters.

No, it's not circular at all, because the number of players on the experimental server does not increase the quality of the build's code and content. Here's what it is:
As the experimental branch gets closer to being caught up to the old build for features and playability, it becomes more attractive to players.
More players become comfortable with the experimental branch and as the major-bug count (hopefully) goes down, they will entice more of their friends over, and the feedback loop will pull more people over. This is a loop that is fed by itself (population gravity) and by the devs continuing to inject quality improvements with patches.
Once the population hits critical mass, garry will promote it to being the primary version of Rust, according to what he's said in this thread. He's previously said that the old version will probably be kept around, so I expect it'll be either an archived branch in the Betas tab, or as a separate title in the library.
I'm not playing experimental until ALL game mechanics are ready. Saw it once and I don't need to keep going back until its playable. But it is good that people are testing it.

I think you will find the old Rust is going to become... Battlefield 1942. A ton of players that play the 'original' if you know what I mean.
Will almost have a cult following.
The old map is so good - with all the places to hide - and we have spent so much time learning it. I hope there will someday be the option to play the new version on our beloved old map (also). That would be a very nice feature - even if they removed the buildings, it would be nice to play on that map.
