I basically feel like im playing Dayz because all I'm doing is running. Also, there is nothing interesting to see, all you see are trees, rocks, snow, and dirt. I also really hate the new map, why couldn't you guys just remake the old rust island and add more shit to it. You know, just give it a visual update or something. I really hope that the skilled players stay on the legacy and never go to experimental. Like, all you do in experimental is making a crap base that is raidable with a rock. Farm for no reason, and jerk off in ur base. Sounds like a fuckin non pvp game to me. So what do you guys think, new Rust is crap in every way and you see no good coming out of it? Because I don't see anything positive coming out of that game. (not yet) Changing the new Rust to default was a bad idea, now the idiots won't know how to get on the legacy Rust.(because majority of current Rust players are noobs that just started playing, because all the old players quit)
X2, the reason why buy rust, was because it was extremely pvp.
Good quit playing since you dislike it so much. ITS Early access!
Good quit playing since you dislike it so much. ITS Early access!
Lol, if you read, I'm not quitting the legacy because im hoping that the pro players stay. A trash like you is probably playing experimental right now and doing pointless shit
(User was banned for this post ("Flaming/Shitposting" - BANNED USER))
i just dont see a single way in which the game improved. pvp-no. building- its unrealistic as fuck now so it just seems stupid. raiding is now putting my grinder on top of my mouse and going and smoking a joint outside and coming back in to find myself in the base. 3rd person is a joke. you can run around for an hour and not find a single other person. swimming makes me feel like im playing a shitty nintendo game from 30 years ago. every aspect of the legacy version that i played for 1500 hours has been shit on. i paid for the version that was being advertised and maybe i knew that it would be changing, but they didnt say they were just gunna give up on 1 game which i loved and make a completely and i mean completely different game that to me has no purpose at all.
Legacy is full of hackers and cheats. It is not a survival game anymore its a FPShooter plain and simple. And there are far better FPS out there. The new branch is just that NEW. And "pro" players lol seriously.
I get what you're saying, and I kind of feel the same. I'm not gonna say Garry's doing a bad job or the games disappointing or anything, because Exp Rust is actually pretty fun in my opinion, but its just not the same game as Legacy. Just when I play it, I don't get the "PvP, gotta be careful, gotta [try] to build a base" feel that Legacy gives me.
I know some people have controversial views on it, but I hope when Rust Experimental's foundation is fully developed, that there's still part of the Facepunch team that will actually work on Legacy Rust. Fix some bugs, maybe implement something like EasyAntiCheat with both. I'm not programmer or coder or anything, so don't take my word on this and correct me if I'm wrong, but it must be simple to implement something like EAC to watch if anything gets injected when the game is playing? That'd be pretty cool, in my opinion.
theres hackers and cheaters cuz facepunch has no pride in their game. there are more mods now so hackers are dealt with better, but its sad that people had to make anticheat for the game for free when garry and his team made millions off it but still wont do a thing to stop cheaters. they need to learn to take pride in what they make. if theres anything that shows hes only in it for the money its that. when create something and u actually care about it you dont let legacy go to shit like that. im sure other game developers laugh at the fact that he doesnt give a shit about his game.
Your obviously anti Gary and its not hard to see you dont understand that legacy was not intended to be what it is. He has stated a thousand times the reasons for the change in approach and that legacy is not going to be devloped further. I dont understand why people like you buy early access games. This is part of game dev, people usually dont see it thats the difference
It's not done.. lol they're still working on it. If you haven't noticed buildings are still weak as shit and the procedural maps are still being worked on and tweaked. At least wait until they roll it out to replace Legacy before you judge. It's a work in progress still and they're working on improving it.
Your panties are all up in a bunch. This is not the final product nor is it how the game will be when it's rolled out.

Way to insult the populace that you're trying to convince to hate this game. Good thing you're not a politician.
Ok where is the ban.... He used the "i" word lol that got me a ban a few weeks back

Please notice that the game is still being developed and it's not balanced yet.
these are some of the thing that will be included in Rust in the near future.

yeah so why they make it default? I mean, i feel that experimental being changed to default may brain wash people into thinking that this new Rust is finally done and they may just play that shit instead of the legacy version. Which why I have a problem because population on legacy may drop because of this.
I've got to admit, I'm also confused as to why they've now made Rust Experimental the default option right now on the game list.
Although the Experimental version is coming along nicely, I don't think Facepunch should have changed this around so early as they have just done right now - I wouldn't say the game is sufficiently close to the baseline enough for this change to be justified.
I'm guessing the guys at Facepunch working on Rust had some sort of reason for this early change, though. It will be interesting to hear what it is.

This is a valid point. I agree that Garry and FP need to address this issue with not being able to make a base secure and keep anything you worked hours to make (although I guess it is possible with hidden rooms, etc.). Still I think they need to address this issue.
I also think the legacy version is still very fun. I don't think hacking ruins game play on small servers - you just have to hide your base well. You could argue that legacy is a better game at this point until they get basic gameplay balanced and more finished on the new version.

I agree with you, it is really boring to see trees and rocks all the time when you are running.
Rust will be the running simulator 2015.
I know it is realistic to hike while you survive, but it is not fun.
Games are supposed to be fun.
Just like when they added durability to the game, that just killed rust for me, even when you repair it it gets permanently damaged, it is realistic, but imagine you make a M4 with a holo and a silencer, and it breaks in 1 hour. 43 low quality metal wasted right there + the repairs.
Don't worry, we're going to segways in next week.
Don't worry, we're going to segways in next week.
Don't be sarcastic, it is really boring to run for 15 kilometers just to die by a rooftop camper.
lol dont run 15 kilometers then. u guys make experiemental sound like its the end of the world. exp is going to have so much more to offer. plus u can still play lagacy so no need to be complaining and putting down the game.
I dont see a single thing that exp has to offer unless they actually get rid of hackers and optimize the game. Theres no chance the gameplay is close to what legacy is.
Shoutout to garry for useless spam. U got ur mods banning ppl for the type of worthless shit u say.
I've been playing experimental for about a week and I have a base that we've kept. People have attempted raiding it. We have raided others. We have upgraded our walls and made our house harder to raid. We spent a long night raiding people and breaking into houses having shoot outs etc. We had a ton of resources on us. On our way back to our house to go stash all our loot we accidentally got split up and our friend got shot and killed. As the two of us made our way to the gun shots that we were able to see because it was getting slightly dark. We ran over and saw the guy looting my friend. I stumbled down a hill where my screen locked up /lagged for a brief second but it was long enough for me to get one shot by the bolt action. The last of our group proceeded to have a drawn out gun fight with the guy. The other guy won the fight and we were of course upset because we lost. He then said in chat "who ever that was im sorry" that's when we realized it was our fourth friend which made the situation pretty funny. The only frustrating part about this (besides the lag) is the fact our bodies disappeared so fast he couldn't even loot it all. Other then that it was a pretty crazy intense night. This was all on experimental. With more people joining experimental the pvp should get better. The map is currently just to big for the smaller amount of players.
I dont really know what game you guys are playing if you say there is nothing to do on experimental. They have made huge strides in the last 2 weeks and i feel like it is really close to being ready to take over legacy. Maybe they want to get people over before hand because they also need to test heavier server loads.
X2, the reason why buy rust, was because it was extremely pvp.
This was a problem form the beginning. The game was supposed to be survival but attracted all the CSGO kids that wanted another competitive shooter. Legacy is literally build a 1x1 then go out shooting.
No wonder it got cancelled.

What is your deal? You say that experimental sucks and he disagrees and give his experience to support his claim.
Your OP is even comparing the two versions, so talking about either version is perfectly valid. Quit trolling.

So youre getting pissed by an Version of a game that is not even done yet?
There are no City`s Aka Remembers in yet , true.
But do you think its gonna be for ever be like that.
Sry but youre Argument is "Moronish".

Well, i started this post after seeing that they made experimental the default Rust, which annoyed me, and I already explained why throughout the thread.

I have often described Rust to my friends (fundamentally) as Counter-Strike with a story behind the gear you're using. Then add a real, tangible reason to want to survive which is more at the heart of a survival game than games branded survival.
I think a big portion of people like OP is that he's a generation of people who are used to being handed luxury. Success in call of duty could very well depend on how kamikaze you're feeling that particular day+dubstep. Success in Rust takes hard fucking work, and plays out like chapters in a novel.
Sorry if you don't/didn't play COD OP I was just erecting an example.

legacy will stay at is
Hey, I've got a great solution for everyone who hates the new Experimental version ... don't play it!
I don't really like Opera music, but I don't go a stand outside the Opera each night, telling everyone that loves it that it's rubbish!
There are enough of us who love the new version, we are very happy playing it, and we are also happy for you to stay on Legacy. The new maps are AWESOME! There is plenty to do on Experimental, I have played for 200+ hours and never got bored. There will be RAD TOWNS, the wolf monuments are placeholders for other buildings and landmarks that are being developed. The "building" system is much better, you can build elaborate bases and upgrade the walls to metal, so they takes hours to break into. Hide your sleeping bags around your base, so they don't get destroyed, craft a bolt action rifle, and go on a killing spree...
