We lost the suggestions subforum (even though you can still see/make old threads in it). Maybe we could use this thread to post our ideas versus having a new thread for every single one? In any case, I'll do it for the following. Probably someone who keeps up with Trello cough*Elix*cough, already knows these answers. [b]Gather: Cloth from Textile Sources:[/b] Is Cloth planned to become its own thing eventually? I mean like will there be anything such as wild flax/cotton/sheep/silk worms in the world to create cloth from versus from killing animals? [b]UI: Area in Inventory Slot to Move all[/b] You know how the further you go up over a item in Inventory it allows more to be selected. I don't know if this is a stand in for now, but what about in the upper left corner of each item in the inventory a tiny rectangle that if you drag from takes the entire slots amount. It slows down and micromanages the gameplay trying to get far enough up in the slot to "grab" everything to move.
cloth is something i have been a bit iffy on myself. i think animal "cloth" should be hide, and actual "cloth" harvested via shearing/stripping from fur/cottonpicking etc;) haven't seen anything on trello about it, or noticed any commentary. i have however noticed that the concept art for tier 1 clothing seems to be fur rather than the burlap we have currently, so who knows, maybe its in the works. the ui fix you have suggested is simple and would work pretty nicely. i still stuggle to get any kind of accuracy with splitting stacks with the current system, especially when i'm transferring gear; i tend to end up with 1-2 stragglers left in my inventory... maybe a system that moves in increments of 10? or that breaks it into ~"1/4", "1/2", "3/4" and "all" instead of single units.
I agree about the two items. Furthermore, expanding on the cloth topic: Currently - animals drop cloth Proposed - should animals drop ie. fur or hide and we would have to craft it into cloth? Or keep the drop as is? Relationally, should plants drop raw material to also allow us to craft cloth? Summary: Do you want raw drops for some items and be able to craft refined materials?! Example: Currently, we need to refine ore except for stones to be able to craft with it. I like this concept. I think it will keep things interesting. Some items make sense to be like this and some don't.
Need some way to identify people. right now it's impossible to have any social play besides KOS. because you can't tell who is who. Here's a suggestion that might work in case you don't want to break the mood by putting in floating names: create a color aura from red -> green based on previous actions by other player. giving items moves towards green. Being killed by that player moves towards red. You could see this aura as the person approached as a quick way to decide what to do. Maybe you could configure a level of "forgiveness" for friendly fire, or have the colormap be affected by global actions as well.
Resurrecting the [B]Sickness[/B] system posted about 10 months ago: I propose a sickness system that is simple. It doesn't have to be complicated. Causes - Example: eating raw meat, etc. (currently decreases health) Effects - Your character's face turns green gradually and optionally its expression could appear weary - In first person view, your view could gradually start/stop to have a greenish hue and vertical wavy vision - Your character gradually becomes sick and starts/stops vomiting including animation - Unable to run until sickness duration ends

Being killed by that player moves towards red.[/QUOTE] absolutely do not want to see auras or anything else that "shows" you how a person has played. that should come from experience with that player, not colours or facepaint or big skull and crossbones over the top of the players head. that said, auras are one of the most subtle ideas i have heard, so i give you credit for that. eventually more character customisation will be in, allowing us to identify a player a bit more readily. also the death screen may tell you who killed you, and the "identify" option when looting a player may actually be functional. also, hopefully the hotbar gear will become visible on the player model, so you know if someone has a gun they can pull out quickly, or if they have skulls, or if they have food. i just feel that anything more identifying of a players play style is detrimental, it makes the game too safe. i hate safe :)
Misquoth, the devs have already said they want to stay away from a morality system.
Crafting Cloth from hide from animals would make alot more sense, agreed on that.
Face Customizer - able to import your face via photo and the game will detect key points to map it out on your character - fine tune your face, expressions and facial hair
Nazca, that would require a very specialized subsystem and programmer to create. I mean the amount of RnD to make just that could be used to improve other aspects of the game (IMO). Besides, do you really want to see yourself naked and killed constantly in a game?
i think better to have selective features to pick from. personally i don't want to see badly done photo transfers on nakeds.
I think it would be funny. It would act as an avatar to tell each other apart. Unrelated, I have a Samsung Galaxy smart camera and using the built-in tools, I can exaggerate different features. I wouldn't be disappointed if a photo importer tool wasn't integrated. It would be nice though if we could manually customize our character's face. It would go nicely with the planned body figure customization tools. EDIT: lmao, I just found a new program on Steam named FaceRig scheduled to release December 2014. Its use is for real time head tracking and expressions. That would be awesome - Facepunch working with Holotech Studios (FaceRig). Users with a webcam could use this for displaying expressions and head movement in first person view. It could be a paid add-on. I wouldn't mind paying more to get this functionality added and to cover licensing. Use this with voice chat and it would be a blast! I am guessing, that sooner or later we'll have more clothing options, so you'll be able to dress in a "unique" combination, therefore you will be able to recognize your buddy.
[b]Melee: Right Click Block[/b] Right Mouse Click is totally not used right now when you have a melee weapon. What about making it a block that reduces damage (only against other melee, and from the front)? Would make melee a little bit more dynamic than just holding down left click and hoping for the best.
[B]dismantling gear:[/B] i know this has been suggested a few times, just wanna put it here for discussion/presence. would love to see gear researched by breaking it down, and breaking down gear yielding half/75% the crafting costs in major resources. that means a gun breaks down into a few cloth and metal frags. stone hatchet breaks down into some wood and stones. [B]freestanding wall panels:[/B] personally i would love to see these brought back instead of barricades.i would like to see freestanding windows and door frames too. my thinking is that any wall/windw/door panel placed on a foundation could have bonus "health" ie make it harder to destroy than one without a foundation.
Blocking melee attacks would be awesome. Good idea.

[B] [/QUOTE] Agreed! That would make the game quite more interesting, and higher rewards for takin down more dangerous animals would be nice too. Wolves for example should run faster than you. Furthermore there should definitively be some animals you wouldn't dare to mess with as long as you have no rifle, or at least a good tactic to get em down.

I bought rust but seems impossible to play to be honest. I spent a good few hours collecting things to make a little shelter and managed to get a small bed with some cloth and food just to start me off till I could make some thing bigger and better, I like the game and would like to play but after I logged off to have a break I go back on to see that everything I done/collected gone because some one making the game figured it be a good idea to allow people to destroy stuff like that so they expect people "like me" who play this solo to start again every time? That's when I actually manage to collect anything without being killed. So basically I think it would be better to not allow people to destroy things you make so at least when you die you can have something stored away to keep the game enjoyable.

Use your Noggin! thats Rust mate. People will kill you, without even saying Hi, people will blow down your doors, to get the most meagre supplies. Trust in Rust ain't a thing, so you gotta think, stay moblie, and above all else, stay healthy, and keep that gun handy. Getting KoS'ed while you collect Mats? Go at night. Kevlar C*nts with M4's gunning you down? Learn how to use the Bow, that thing eats kevs for lunch. Group of Bandits? get your own group! Build a bloody town with spike walls and watchtowers! My main point is tho I cant make a decent size base to do that because i cant collect enough in the short time i play without it being stolen. but I will keep trying.

can people only destroy doors or walls aswell?
Wooden Doors and Wooden Shacks can be Axed into Oblivion. Metal Doors and Wooden Walls need 2 or 3 C4 Depending.

And People WILL go out of their way to screw up your shit, i once had 4 Kevlars surrounnd my shack (i just spawned) C4'ed my wooden door, and said 'DROP THE FUCKING ROCK!", and when i didn't respond in 0.0005 seconds he blew my head off with his M4. you don't have to be afraid of bandits, cos they are shit scared of everyone.
