Hey guys
Can someone post the correct process for updating an existing server?
I'm assuming it's just the same method as installing it: 'app_update 258550 - validate' in steamcmd
Presumably you only need to do this when your client spits out that it's an incompatible version in the console. Is there a level of client updates that can go through before the server needs an update?
Is there any method of updating that doesn't wipe the server? I presume no because obviously you'd want all the new stuff which cant go in unless there's a wipe
Also, what happens when you have -load in your batch file if the server wipes considering there's nothing to load? Just ignores it and recreates the server folder? Do you need to manually delete your existing server folder to avoid a conflict with outdated Rust version config/save files?
Rcon:
So I know the commands to get rcon working, but as far as I can see I might need to do something else with my server to get it working as I cant connect to it using 'Rusty' even though if I do find rcon, all the rcon values are in there including password.
Error messages in server log file regarding HDR and other things, is this normal because it's in alpha? Or are there known fixes worth bothering with?
If
-load
still works, use that in your launch command, but Garry advised not to use it a few days ago if I remember correct.
