How come there are these currently useless items in the lot tables like blood and batteries. Can't they be added to recipes instead of taking up drops? How come there is so much work on skins and changing skins seemingly every update as opposed to adjusting animal spawns and rock spawns, or working on the way the mechanics of the game and polishing the game later. I understand that you have x people that are employed to do certain tasks but when constructing a house you don't hire the people to paint before the walls are up. You make sure the plumbing and the electricity is right first then you hang the walls and paint them.
So you understand that the people do different things, but you dont understand that a person working solely on item skins can easily replace old skins before the programmers fix issues with the code? So they should just fire all the people working on art, skins, sounds, until the game code is finished?
So what you're saying is, the world of graphic design, furniture manufacturing, wallpaper, paint, home electronics and appliances, and curtain-making has to sit at a dead stop until a house is 100% assembled and ready to be made livable? The house analogy is normally a good one, but in game development, multiple people can be working on different tasks at different paces. Why should everyone but the coders be laid off until the game's ready to enter a beta state, covered in programmer art and placeholder models?

So what happens when all those extra programmers finish their coding and now there are no art assets to tie to it? And then you claim they need to stop polishing the game when your examples of what should be worked on are nothing BUT final touches on systems already in place, aka GAME POLISHING? Are you high?
I was asking, I don't understand exactly how all this works 100% people explained to me that graphics and some art was ported. No need to be completely rude when I stated I was asking. Some people have answered the question maturely when others have simply taken opportunity to rip someone because they are un-informed or ignorant to the workings of something.

There have been countless threads written similar to yours trying to tell Garry how to run his team. I'd recommend phrasing more carefully if you were really just trying to find out more info.
Imagine a house with 6 million items and someone working upstairs in the bathroom changes one of those items and the guys items in the kitchen all turn pink. That's game development. Garry then walks in and changes an item in the living room and all the clothes disappear in the wardrobe upstairs in one of the bedrooms that won't be discovered until a random hacker breaks in later to add his own clothes into the empty wardrobe. Get the drift? - yes, they declared variables outside the scope of their classes. Joking aside, development is a nightmare of juggling and impacts from things you just don't know about until discovered.
There is, in fact, merit to the concern raised. There has been a few re-workings of icons, and yet the actual items the represent may not even exist in the game in the future. That is just one of the most outstanding examples. Kind of akin to changing the drapes in windows that have yet to be hung at all, only to change them again next week, and still there is no glass. Granted, we are enjoying open-Alpha access during development, however I don't think anyone would complain about seeing some of the new content being taunted and flaunted in the mind-map and elsewhere. This has been an Alpha WIP for a considerable time now, afterall.

Maybe if you can do it better yourself, you ought to apply to FP!
Yeah i slowly stoped playing after last update because i was tired of seeing new icons evry weeks when they do shit about the totally imbalanced gameplay. I'm not talking about the bugs or things not working well, nor adding new stuff, but the game currently makes no sense to play and nothing seems to be done about that, and i really don't see where they're going with that game. Maybe i'll give another try after this summer, see if a real update came up. But that was for sure my last time paying for an early acces.
Those damn artists and their terrible job at balancing game mechanics. wat
That's not the point. I'm just giving feedback, and i'm not the only one losing patience and getting bored with the weekly updates and the game not getting better. Maybe it's time to reorganize the team or I don't know, it's not my job, but the feeling is true and growing on the different servers I used to play on. As i said i stop for now and will give another try in 5 or 6 mounths. I hope this project won't die, the game has so much to offer, so that's why i still take time to come here and write all this. If you don't understand what i'm saying, I still hope people who actually matter in the project will. [editline]1st April 2015[/editline] Also maybe a better communication would make it easier, like "we're aware of that and working on that", something that don't give the sensation they only care about little visual effects no one really care about.

Ok so in using C4 on a completely imbalanced server last night where C4 was a plenty, what I found is that C4 does soooo much damage it makes raiding almost impossible. When you place a C4 it damages blocks in every direction so much so that it absolutely decimates everything behind what you place it on. If I place it on a wall that has a floor behind it, the floor will be gone by the time the wall is broken down. This creates a situation where you can not get to any floors. This makes raiding impossible.
Oh no explosives have a blast radius?! HOW COULD YOU BE SO RECKLESS GARRY?
i think he's talking about what i was complaining about earlier this week, the explosion passing through walls that haven't been destroyed, and breaking boxes/sleeping bags/players faces on the other side.
I think the OP is trying to say "Why is there a lot of aesthetically pleasing things compared to the game mechanics?". I can agree on the house analogy, but I think the problem lies in the community pressuring the Rust team to crank out content versus taking their time to create a base and building upon that. I could be wrong Bout that but I do remember them never expecting their sales to surpass Garry's mod. Any other thoughts by the OP?

You need less and you can put them on floors above you so when it breaks loot boxes, you all the loot that comes out of them when they fall down. Plus, it makes breaking the tool cupboard easier, allowing you to put your own and get where you need by building. Not buying that your server had c4 so powerful raiding was impossible- if that was the case, I'd c4 the foundations, watch the building tumble down, and pick up the loot all over the place.
I don't play Rust anymore. I played the hell out of legacy, but really haven't spent any length of time with the new version. I do check the forums and the devblog updates and offer ideas or whatever on here. Theres no backstory, the game is hard and very unforgiving, also very buggy, and running through rad towns only holds interest for so long. All I see are people complaining about the raiding system so I haven't put the time in to get that far. I can only imagine the frustration based on just trying to get a basic base going. I guess there's nothing compelling me to play the game. I'm sure that will change, I hope it will, but it's been that way pretty much since they abandoned legacy.
