• Last update messed up my steam account

Somehow my game updated during my play, and then crashed. Here is the result of my case: You can see more information about the case on steam forums: http://steamcommunity.com/app/252490/discussions/0/611703999966361694/ I've already sent tickets to steam support but I'm very, very pessimist about it since I've seen the VAC Ban on my account. Here I am, contacting the official game support. I hope we can fix this. Cheers.
with all due respect, only one VAC wave has ever been proven to be false. call me a pessimist, but i would suggest that you had something running in the background now or recently that you do not (or do even) consider a cheat, and that has been detected. VAC bans do not happen instantly, so it's not likely to have happened secondary to an update you just applied. for the sake of the argument, you have your account set to private, so we can't see if this is a long term account or a burner account, but i'm not convinced this is a legitimate error. good luck if it is, but i doubt it.
Sure, the account is public now. I keep it private to keep my gameplay status hidden from family/friends. I bought the game just a few days ago, this is my first update really. It can't be anything older. I didn't play anything other than rust with VAC recently, so it can't be anything else. After I saw the ban, I've tested Dota2 and Team Fortress to see if they're still working (they are!) and that's all about it. The weird thing is, somehow the update happened during the gameplay (I pressed update to let it finished earlier) - and the game crashed. I'm not sure if this is related though. I didn't do anything fishy in any public sever either, didn't argue with anyone, or didn't anyting that will be judged as a glitch/bug/exploit. I'm still kind of in the learning phase for the whole game. I'm very sure nothing illegal happened during the process. I'm very nervous now since I know what VAC means to many people and I don't want to be in that position..
Man... please just stop . There have been thousands that tried this before you on facepunch, it won't work. Next time learn to play and don't use cheats

Just look at my account and tell me if it looks like an account that'd even risk to cheat, please. Even though I understand your way of looking at this, I don't really support and like answers like yours, they just flame what's going on. I'm sure a lot of people have cheated on many games including Rust, but I'm not one of them. that's why I'm nervous, and sad about this. My account is old, and I try to keep it as respected as possible in all games I played so far. This is a nightmare for me, as you can imagine. I'm willing to provide any kind of information/logs/anything for this to be solved. This is very much not fair.
My account is old, and I try to keep it as respected as possible in all games I played so far. This is a nightmare for me, as you can imagine.
"I didn't rape and kill my daughter, JonBenét Ramsey. This is a nightmare for me, as you can imagine." Seriously, everything you post screams "i'm trying to remain calm and show everyone that I am remaining calm so they'll take me seriously". And yes, I totally went there with the JonBenét Ramsey reference. I still remember that whole thing from when I was younger. My mother was deeply entrenched in reading about it/watching stories on it on TV.
I'm not calm, I'm nervous. Why are you flaming the topic? I bought an early access product, which not only broke itself but broke my account in the meantime - this is how I feel. Honestly at this point I'm more concerned about my account status than Rust itself. I'm not sure if this is directly Rust related or not, what I know is whatever happened happened during Rust. This is why I'm searching for my solution here, expecting some developer comments, or similar issues that might have happened recently.

Thank you based J!NX. You must have all that saved in a TXT file :v:
it's an old account, but the amount of game time on each of your games seems low for the age of it. i have to ask, was this account yours the whole time? and are any of these games cracked? the most likely issue is that you have something on your computer running that is seen by VAC as a cheat, whether that's something as harmless as a mapping program, or nasty as a full blown ESP/AIMBOT/NOCLIP setup. the main thing is, what you have read is right. it's very very very very unlikely that VAC will overturn this, and even less likely they will explain what triggered it.
No, this account was mine always and I'm against cracked software (I can share my real life details if needed in private message, which would enlighten some questions about this particular case directly). Every piece of software including windows is licensed. I generally get stuck to a game (like rust) and play it till I'm completely bored. That's why my account has sprints of play times and gaps of irl work in-between. I'm very sure there is nothing related to any sort of cheating software on my computer, is there any way something has triggered a false positive somehow? If so, can I spot it out? Thanks
I think I've seen a thousand of these threads by now, and they've all ended the exact same way. You're VAC banned, make a new account and repurchase the game if you want, but the ban isn't going away unless Valve decides it was made in error, which as mentioned previously, has only happened once. The only people who know what triggered it is Valve, and they refuse to disclose anything like that. The short of it is, something modified active memory for Rust, or the executable/dynamic link libraries, and no, data corruption won't trigger a VAC ban, the game will just crash. There is nothing you can do about the VAC ban, at all. Just save yourself some time, and give up now.

Problem solved.

Thanks
personal details won't have any relevance really, and i wouldn't trust anyone here with them anyway other than maybe knubbe. let's be more general. is there any software on your computer that hooks into either steam, rust or any other VAC protected game in the last month or so? being used or not makes little difference. and have you modified any of the program/game files in any of those. grim is right though, it's pretty much a "too bad, so sad" scenario where the solution is to rebuy rust on another account. if this was happening to every rust player, maybe a false positive, but it's just you, so it's likely something on your computer.
No, there is no software that modifies folder content program besides Norton as far as I know, and Norton can't be the issue. As I mentioned at this point I'm not concerned about the game. I like rust, but that's all about it. What I'm concerned about is the red label on my account. I can do without rust; but I was using my account for mainly collecting the games I like so I don't want that "VAC Banned" label there for sure. This is sad. Honestly speaking I was hoping to see more players popping up like me after my post, I thought I stepped on a wrong time to buy Rust, with a possibly bad patch. Now it started to feel like this is pretty much a dead end, without much luck. I've read a lot of similar threads as mentioned by other users in this topic - looking from that point of view I can't blame anyone for their behavior against me. I don't like the attitude in any way but getting angry or trying to respond to any of those posts won't resolve or help my situation. A few friends on steam mentioned that some people were also talking about similar issues over official London server earlier today, but we will see if it's similar or not. I currently have no one of my friends having similar issues to mine, so I can't know directly. I've submitted a few tickets to Steam support, I'll wait for their replies as well. So right now I'm crossing fingers. I couldn't find any support line for either facepunch or steam - if any of that exist I'd love to know.
best thing i can suggest is look for malware/viral infection on your computer. i've not heard about any that have triggered a vac ban, but it is possible theoretically, and would provide weight to your steam ticket. otherwise, from here i can't think of anything else. good luck i guess:)
Small update: I also randomly get these errors now as I connect servers - Maybe it's related somehow?
Small update: I also randomly get these errors now as I connect servers - Maybe it's related somehow?
Man, this guy really doesn't get it you can't join servers anyways because you're vac banned it isn't a bugged, you're banned from playing the game online on vac secured servers facepunch cannot fix this, if it's truly "false" you have to submit a support ticket to valve idk why you're acting as if it's a bug, we aren't stupid lmao
You're wrong, I can join servers that are not VAC protected. That random error pops up sometimes, that's also what popped up when I had the issue for the first time. So I shared that to get ideas.
Axy, as I said before there are way too many that tried this before you,you should've seen the forum in legacy, daily there were plenty of guys like you saying "me not cheat, bug" "brother played on account, he's an idiot" "I was talking on teamspeak and it triggered it somehow" "I was watching a video while playing, that must've been it" etc. Facepunch isn't the place for that and we all know what you did ! just buy a new account and this time have the guts to play fair, it's more fun that way once you learn
"But guys, I already SAID I wasn't cheating! Just because a program that actually studies my workstation and examines my processes, files, and data found proof that I was cheating should carry no weight against my word! After all, if I really was cheating, I wouldn't be able to say I wasn't. That would be lying!" TL/DR: Busted.
I'll reserve judgement on guilt even though I'll admit it doesn't look good. Like others have said, there's nothing FP can do to help. VAC is what caught you. You can profess your innocence here all you want and it will do you absolutely no good. Even if FP wanted to help you, they're powerless. You have to deal with Steam on this issue. This is like going to Ford customer service to complain about problems you're having with your new Toyota and expecting them to help you out.
oh boy he sure is trying to cover up that he is horrible at the game

@J!NX Readthrough the topic, as I mentioned way above my profile was already private before that (and I provided explanation for it). I've opened it up for a few hours so that the support and everyone else here can have a look at my account for a better judgement.
for the sake of the argument, you have your account set to private, so we can't see if this is a long term account or a burner account.

Sure, the account is public now.

it's an old account
Anyway, it's pointless to turn this whole topic to an argument here. As I was suggested, I'll wait for steam replies, and hopefully solve this.
ice cold keks (please postal senpai dont ban me for meme) (User was banned for this post ("meme reply" - postal))
Axy you're a dense mother fucker. Stop hacking. Don't get VAC banned. It's as simple as that. Stop saying "No im sure its not that". It's that. stop being a cunt. Go grab mommies credit card and rebuy the game.
