• Idea: AUotmated "Before Event" Supply Train

I had an idea: An automated supply train the runs through the map. It is from before the event, and robotic. Players would need C4 at least to stop it, effectively blowing the tracks to derail the robotic supply train. They would need more C4 to get through it's armored hull, and it would take time, leaving the train as an open target for battle and fighting over the supplies inside, food, guns, meds, and more. The train can kill the player if it derails and the player is in the way. If a player is on the track, it will destroy the player(s). The tracks can be built on, but as long as the tracks are intact, this juggernaut cannot be stopped. It is extremely fast, so plans must be laid way ahead of it. Problem is, there is no way of knowing what track or direction it will take when it regenerates. (Admin configured regen time) The only warning is the train's horn which can be heard with positional/Doppler audio across the map. Possibly even a hovercraft type or maglift type vehicle, unmanned and automated. It could possibly use the road system? Input?
Sounds like a cool idea, but it will probably take a long time to put this in the game. So i don't think we will be seeing this anytime soon.
Reminds me of Blaine the Mono from Stephen Kings dark tower series.
It's a neat idea, but my first question would be "where is it coming from?" We're on an island, after all. Unless it dives into some underground bunker of some sort, but then you have to allow for the possibility of a player following it in.
If this were a feature I'd just build my house at the closest possible point to where the train spawns and rob it before anyone else gets a chance to.
I like the idea of a vehicle that has supplies and need to be stopped. but the Train has some gameplay problems that you cant solve easily. F.e. the trails. everyone is able to follow the trails and find the bunker or whatever point the vehicle spawns. This brings up 2 Problem: 1. everyone will wait at the spawnpoint as mentitioned above and 2. if there is a bunker with lots of supplies and the Players have c4, what will stop them from entering the bunker and rob everything? So I would go with the hovercraft or aircraft vehicle that randomly crosses the Island without using roads or trails...with this Kind of vehicle you could even explain why they're there in the first place .. f.e. they need to bring supplies from Island A to Island B but need to cross Island C (where the Players live on) to get there ... or what ever
If this were a feature I'd just build my house at the closest possible point to where the train spawns and rob it before anyone else gets a chance to.
If this were a feature, I'd just build my house right next to Prouxx and rob him each time the train spawns.
To solve the problem of "where does it start" and such, one could change the train to an amphibious tank, that crosses the island in some way and spawns at some distant point on the sea. This would not require so many changes in the terrain.
If only there was some kind of vehicle that didn't require tracks or roads and that was beyond the range of player weapons, but could still distribute cargo / supplies. If only.
This was meant to be a vehicle that could be raided, possibly even ridden(see below), and fought over. Your completely worthless post just shows you could not event take the time to read the original post. Hey, thanks for trying to be really funny and cool though. I am sure the types that enjoy your type of reply that adds absolutely nothing to a conversation will like it. Back on topic: I think it could also double as a method of quicker transportation from one side of the map to the other. Random spawn and direction, or possibly go by the rad areas on it's way across the map. Maybe be armed with automatic guns that defend while we try to derail it to get the valuable cargo it carries. No way to break into it other than to derail it and get in the spilled, open loot crates.
There could just be more tracks on the map if we let's say stick to the train, like 5-6 "spawn" tracks and if the thing has a lot of speed, making a house really close to the spawn might not be the best idea as it might escape before you get your c4s to blow it up (or w/e you will need for it) + you can make more fun events like taking a prisoner (if he complies) and putting him on the tracks unless he does something or just simply executing him that way or building homes on the tracks and locking players in to get hit, I guess you understand what I mean :D I'd definitely love to see many more events than the airdrop
Your completely worthless post just shows you could not event take the time to read the original post.
No, don't bother actually reading what I said or addressing any of the concerns that crop up every time something like this is suggested. Where would it come from? Underground? We're on an island, after all. Where would it go? Underground again? Are there tracks leading off the island? Does it just float in air? Why not just camp the spawn point? What would be its purpose in the eventual storyline? If the train gets derailed and hijacked, where does the next one come from? Is there some automated train factory just pumping these suckers out forever and ever? Or is there only one per wipe cycle? If it gets ridden, how many players can ride at once? How fast is it? Faster than running speed? These are all valid questions, but LOL at you for getting butthurt over someone making a comment about your post.
And thus the rich got richer. At least with an airdrop the poor have a chance to be less poor.
And thus the rich got richer. At least with an airdrop the poor have a chance to be less poor.
I agree. Airdrops can be hotly contested and virtually impossible for a newman to get on a busy server, but even the official FP public servers have their off hours.
The vehicle would come from underground. An island can have underground facilities, or it could come from across the sea in an undersea tunnel from an automated supply depot. Since it is an automated supply vehicle, it would make it's run in a loop, resupplying the rad towns then back to the underground facility to pick up more cargo. The vehicle must travel X amount of distance before it is vulnerable to derailing or attack, the environment has worn the tracks at that distance making them finally vulnerable. Or possibly the automated guns protecting it run out of ammo at a certain distance. It's purpose was to transport supplies to the bases that were located in the rad zones, the radar teams at the dishes, and fuel to the hangers and garage type buildings on the map. The factories that create and launch the trains are automated, running on Fusion energy. The robots are recharged daily on the same clean, long lasting Fusion power source. The train could be ridden, but hard to catch with only one or two flatbeds to jump onto. 5 or 10 players at a time. That way players can fight over getting on. Jumping off will cause damage to the player, so the player must have full health and food or med kits. I really do not understand the need for a back story or end game. The goal is survival. that back story is left to the player's imagination. Thank you for finally reading the thread and asking the questions that others had asked, some of which were answered in my reply to your post. I was going to thank you for adding to the discussion until your need to use the common Internet phrase 'butthurt', which was not necessary.
