Only playing Rust at the moment and today is a great day to buy a new GPU.
If developers read this...What do you prefer @ 2560x1440?
Considering leaving a 670GTX for something like this

I'm not gonna buy a 980Ti..
Anyone have an opinion on what gpu solution runs Unity best?
Seeing how similar GPU users ends with different FPS ingame, not to mention some top end GPU is struggling with extreme low FPS and some low end GPU is running some quite good FPS, I would say that the result can vary from update to update.

Funny I should see this. I just ordered one myself and it's arriving tomorrow.
Unity is adapting to DirectX 12 and AMD cards will blow away anything nVidia has out, even older Radeon cards will see some good boosts due to their architecture.
Only problem is... it's only on Windows 10. If you're willing to move onto that OS, that card will rock your socks.
Even without DirectX 12, it'll still be pretty fucking good.
I just ordered parts to build a new PC the GPU I ordered is the Radeon r9 380, I'm currently using a Radeon hd6770 and it runs rust ok at graphic setting 3

I still run a 5870. Fucking ancient in terms of gaming hardware. Transferred over from an older build, it's just insulting the rest of my newer build at this point. It just keeps ticking though and runs most games at 1080 fairly well with medium settings. However, it's 1GB of vram, just doesn't cut it these days, especially with Fallout 4's massive texture footprint.
But with Rust?... Rust in its experimental state and a beta version of Unity still implementing the newer APIs and squashing bugs (let alone optimizations), runs like complete ass.
It has little to do with Unity and everything to do about Rust's coding. And from the spastic nature of performance, I'm guessing there's a lot of sloppy coding in there that needs to be cleaned up.
I run an i7 4770, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, and AMD R9 270. From update to update, my frame rate jumps wildly. Sometimes dragging it into unplayable territory. Before the last update, I was hitting 50-60 fps at max detail. Since last update, I'm running 15-25 fps on medium settings. There have been updates where for several weeks, I could barely hit 20 fps on minimum details while others with lesser system specs were running at acceptable levels with high detail.
Bottom line is that it's pointless using Unity as a benchmark, because other Unity games (like The Forest) will consistently run at 60+ fps on max detail on my system.
As an addendum to my last post, after yesterday's update, I'm now hitting 35-ish fps at max detail. If I turn it down to mid, I'm hitting 60.
So again, nothing to do with Unity. This is all Rust's coding that's causing performance issues.
I was thinking 8gig of ram would help in the vast lush environment.

I'm noticing the frame drops in new rusty structures. Either way I'm gonna need a gpu update to push 2560x1440.
