• [SUGGESTION] Change Code-Lock into Finger-Print Scanner - Add New Combination Lock as Default BP

Basically everyone hates key-locks but they are useful in some ways. However with the high tech code-lock BP being very very rare it makes getting started preety rough/takes a long time. What we need is a new solution. Add a new Lock that is a new High Tech Lock, Called Fingerprint Scanner it will replace the current "Code-Lock". ( You must find this BP just like todays "Code-Lock" But it is a very useful end game Lock ) This new Fingerprint scanner is very secure, it allows the placer/owner of the lock to add a friends hand-print signature to the lock there is no codes, just biometrics. The Lock Can not be unlocked either it is always locked, and the owner is the only one who can add new players or remove it. Now add a new Lock Called Combination Lock as a default BP. This lock works exactly how the current "Code-Lock" works now. keep key Lock as default BP To Recap here is the new lock tiers 1) Keys (Default BP ) 2) Combination Lock ( Default BP ) 3) Bio-Metric Lock ( Hand Print Lock, NOT DEFAULT BP ) Code-Lock could also remain and another tier of Combination lock which could provide mroe numbers or more security with the use of Batteries/power.
to my mind it should be tier 1) latch that is on the door by default, and can only be locked from the inside. this would allow you to secure your house while you are in it without added cost. tier 2) key lock, because as hard as it is to be afraid someone can steal your key, it is still the most commonly used locking system in the world, is simple to make and can be locked/unlocked from either side. tier 3) the code lock, although perhaps needing some tweaking so it is functionally the same, but looks more in sync with the rest of the game. maybe a crude combination lock in design. keep in mind this is the TOP TIER lock available at this time. it shouldn't be instantly available to everyone, the same way the AK shouldn't be instantly available to everyone. as irritating and scary as it is that someone could take your key, don't engage in pointless battles when you are carrying your key, stash it somewhere, or have someone remain in the base holding all the keys. i will admit some kind of key labeling and a "keyring" system of some kind would be beneficial so you don't have the same limits on the number of keys you can carry. as for the biometric lock, it's a good idea, but i'm not sure if it is too high tech.
Keys are fun when you steal them from people. I've taken their keys and eventually found their houses. I stole one guys key, and then he showed up like a minute later to check his corpse. I killed him again, took his second key, ran back the direction he came for the same amount of time it took him to show up, and then did a loop until I found the right door. Got lots of resources!
Honestly I think we should keep the key system for now. I have a feeling once they start adding in all the different furniture and stuff we'll get something that we can store keys in more securely. Once that happens it won't be a big deal to bring your key outside with you, you can always go pick it up from its hiding spot once you're ready to go inside again. If down the road it's still painfully annoying to transport that key around, then I would understand a change needing to be made.
@Zippy, I never said to remove the key system. I said that they need to add a new default blueprint that is a common padlock/combination lock. The code-/password lock should also remain if people want, [sp]but the combo lock will be nearly the same unless they make it work differently such as when its crafted it tells you what its combo is and cant be changed.[/sp] However a 2 new locktypes need to be introduced, the padlock/combolock first off and second a Bio-metric lock, that is the new higher tier lock. This lock is much more secure than a code-lock. This gives people the option to use the key or the pad/combo-lock from the beginning, provided they have the resources. This helps get the game moving, the key system by itself is just awful, you have to have a lock for every door and its possible to be locked inside your house and many more issues/annoyances.
