This is mostly for the rust team.
I was wondering if anytime on the development can you build "team based gamemode mechanics", to be used for some custom servers.
I don't wanna to see it on the "vanilla servers" or nothing that is part of the standard gamemode...
But I was a player as-well of Gmod, and the biggest problem in there for some custom servers was the difficulty of making custom gamemodes that had the minimum rules to be sure players will play the way that was intended in the server, some basic mechanics added in the final version would help a lot for some custom servers, for example it could be useful for some servers on the style of "Rust factions" servers.
I know some "plugins" or future mods for Rust could fill the gap, but I was wondering if that could be added on the game base on the future (of course I dont expect it to be a priority on the current development)
If its not very clear about what I'm talking about I will explain it a bit better.
I'm going to call the standard "rust gamemode" simply as "sandbox mode"...
Well, would be nice to see for example another gamemode like "team-based sandbox mode" that should be mostly the same but:
When a player connects to one server of this gamemode for the first time, a menu should be displayed, there you should see a full list of all "teams" or factions of the game. There you should have the chance to directly join to one team, or create one *1 (there you should be allowed to write the name and maibe choose any icon for it)
In this gamemode for example could be added also the possibility of set one bed with the option "allow respawn of faction members". *2
Some team-based chats (text) would be also a good idea.
Details to be considered:
*1 -The owner of the server should be able to set a maximum number of team per server, in addition he should be able to make a number of teams to be present from the start.
-The owner of the server should be able to set some auto balance about the player per team If he wanted, in addition he should be able to set the maximum difference of players (for example, allowing a maximum of 3 players difference)
*2 -If something like the option about the beds its on it, the possibility of turn it on/off.
- Set a voting system inside the teams to be allowed to kick team-members (for example people that left the server.)
- The owner of the server should be able to allow or deny team damage.
I'm not going to say anything bad about the standard "sandbox gamemode" on which Rust its based (because I think its perfect for the game and should be kept the same) but I value a lot that the games have more than just one gamemode, and I think that after all, the responsability for creating other gamemodes should not lie with the modders.
