• Allow Locks & Code Pads on Tool Chests

Players should be able to place locks or code pads on their tool chests, so guests and visitors can't just run up, touch it then claim ownership. They can still destroy it and place a new one, but that would at least prevent a fly by hostile takeover. Please let me know if you like/hate.
Agreed. Also Gary please update the model a bit. I know it's just "temporary" but can't one of the artists dabble a little bit in their spare time and make something a little better? Maybe let us upgrade it to metal to make it more resistant. Since it's basically the Achilles Heel of your entire base. EDIT: as a model suggestion, how about instead of a tool cupboard, it becomes a drafting table? :D you know just this sort of thing.
This has been suggested many times before. Personally, I think it's a good idea.
I love the toolboxes, without them I could not even play this game in its current state. in my opinion I don't see why not allow a codelock on a toolbox, it should be pretty simple to add and would add to the game. Also would be nice if codelocks had owners like another thread suggested that way only the owner can change the code/unlock ( greenlight ) the codelock.
the cupboard is a unity asset, and it may not even be kept in game. there's no point making a new model until it's decided one way or another:) but yes, locks on the cupboard makes sense (until they hopefully remove the cupboard altogether).
It's unlikely a better system will become available. There really isn't much else you can do, you either prohibit building or you don't. Gary may have said it was temporary, probably even meaning it, but I think it's going to exist for a long time. Even if you only allow twig tier (as suggested often) it breaks the game by making raiding ridiculously easy -as any window, any gap, any un-upgraded bit of your building becomes simple to reach. Walls become meaningless. As do barricades. Nope I'm willing to bet 10 months from now the cupboard is still in. The griefing is much more of a detriment to the game than the side effect of making raiding more inconvenient. More PvE stuff easily offsets the more difficult raiding, by giving ppl other goals. It has no affect on PvP.
I feel like if you're at a place where you can start burning metal for code locks in the first place, you shouldn't have a vulnerable tool cupboard at all. I've never understood why everyone feels like a coded tool cupboard would do anything. Are you also suggesting that it needs to take 5 minutes to destroy? Because that would be the true deterrent, not a useless lock.
I don't feel this would be that beneficial. Not many raiders take over the building they raid. This just puts forth another very slight annoyance for raiders and more importantly for a new guy inhabiting your abandoned raided base.
