• Reason to stay on Official Servers?

I don't want this to become a flame thread, just looking for some honest opinions and discussion. I've been playing on New York 1 this wipe (Toronto Dev last wipe). The influx of hackers has been obviously apparent to everyone these past few weeks. Although Facepunch has been doing good with banning reported hacker's, it's clear that it's not stopping or slowing the problem down. I like the idea of being able to play on a Official Server hosted by the developers of the game, thinking it would be the best to play on, but lately I've been struggling to come up with ideas on the benefits of playing on a Facepunch hosted server. I'm of course considering joining a active Admin server after the upcoming wipe, but before I fully commit to the idea I wanted to get some more opinions or thoughts on why a Official Server might still be the best option. Does Facepunch have plans (that they are currently sharing) to prevent having some of the heaviest hacker populated servers? or even having active Admins? Again I'd like to stress that I don't want this post to become a shit show of trash talk, albeit this is a online forum so I'm not sure how much good that will do.
Hello, as a person who never played on official servers, i cant help u with your question. As a person who always play on active admin servers, i can tell u i have "never" seen any hacker in game (i did in legacy, a lot).I am sure they get banned quickly after the got exposed and thats big difference between official and community/modded servers.
Hey mate, I was playing on the official servers for a while but have recently moved to a community server. While playing on official servers in the UK might have it's benefits (I'm not sure if Facepunch staff are active on them) I can't imagine them ever playing on American or Aussie servers. The difference is night and day, I heartily recommend it. The trick is finding a server with an admin who doesn't go overboard and is active.
"I don't want this to become a flame thread, just looking for some honest opinions and discussion." That's not an issue, this is not a controversial subject. "The influx of hackers has been obviously apparent to everyone these past few weeks. Although Facepunch has been doing good with banning reported hacker's, it's clear that it's not stopping or slowing the problem down." FP does not moderate official servers. Unless a dev happens to be playing there that day, hackers get banned because they were reported, not because of having been on an official server. "I like the idea of being able to play on a Official Server hosted by the developers of the game, thinking it would be the best to play on, but lately I've been struggling to come up with ideas on the benefits of playing on a Facepunch hosted server." There are no benefits, FP does not do anything particular for official servers. The only exception is Rustafied -- They have been on/off the official list, and are close to the developers, but actually moderate and administer their servers via rustaforum (for player support tickets, admin teamspeak, etc.) Though because they are vanilla and official, they do not provide in-game support (replacing items, rollbacks, etc.), only an additional layer of anti-hacker and player reporting, as they follow up tickets and can spectate and ban suspected hackers as soon as a moderator is online. Other than that, there are all varieties of community and modded servers with their own, non-official approach to server administration. FP servers are just there for testing and to provide a permanent, baseline vanilla option.

This includes alt accounts etc, they usually ban people who buy another account to play there in a day or so, and have great security against players using VPN's and proxies, plus no real racism occurs and you'd be auto banned encase of said incident. The server is usually full most of the time, with a 80+ player que time, which can be annoying, but I personally think it's one of the best handled vanilla servers out there.
1700 hours never plays official
Official servers are gameplay vise garbage you have a shitload of Hackers, the map laggs, server crashes, + Random uncalled BP wipes. Pro tipp look for an good community server and join it
