Make player sex random and fixed, just like skin color! - Rust

Work is underway on a female player model. Once completed, I hope player sex will be randomly assigned and fixed (tied to steam id), just like skin color is now. I know some people hate that this is currently done with skin color and they will hate it if it's done with sex too.

No idea why they really care.

I like the idea of random race, and would welcome random gender as well. But if I turn out to be a black women (my character is black now), I'm totally changing my name to Shaniqua.

My first reaction to the idea of random sex was "whatever, i don't care anyway". But after imagining how salty some people will be because of it, i totally support random sex and race.

This thread again? I hope it's not random, but given the way FP went about implementing race (and hey, it saves making a character creation/selection screen!) I'm not holding out much hope.

Thumbs up for random. However, make it so that you get a new look every patch or forced wipe, or month or whatever, tldr; make something else a component of the random seed in addition to the steam ID.

If it ends up random Im ok with that but I would prefer the option to choose gender before spawning.

I hope it ends up random, the random locked race feature provided many hilarious moments already. This has huge potential.

I still want random body size and randomised face. That would be rather unique than some color/sex thing.

I am up for random sex/race - but I am also up for a new randomization every month or so. Playing the same character for too long, in games where customization is available, tends to get boring for me.

All these people saying they want it random - when using character creators in other games, do you ever hit the "Randomise" or whatever button in those games? I just think that instead of pleasing some of the people, an ability to have more control over your character creation would please one half and the addition of a "lolrandom" button would please the other half. It just all smells of politics to me. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. Maybe not.

I just do not care if randomization is added, is all. It is just a game, after all - not going to have a cow over something so insignificant. :P

However, I think every time you die your race and gender get randomized.

Playing Rust puts people in an uncomfortable situation. You're in constant danger of being killed, robbed, or both. Adding random race and potentially random gender will only add to that uncomfortable situation. To me, that's a good thing. You play the hand you're dealt and deal with the repurcussions without the ability to try to stack the deck in your favour.

I want to see gender introduced for the sole purpose of causing sexist meltdowns among a significant portion of Rust's players. EDIT: Also, given how gender normally works in MMOs, female characters are going to get followed around by creepy male characters who either give them items or constantly beg to BE an item. This is gonna be great!

Maybe not.[/QUOTE] I never used the random button in character creators, but I absolutely want character creation in rust to be completely random. It's just better that way, there's more unique people variations if nobody gets to choose the most vanilla looking body or a black body purely for hiding in the night. It "forces" a world in which everyone actually looks different, and I never see that in any games. So I really want it in rust.

If it were random and tied to your SteamId, and there are already few million MALE players in the game, wouldn't it make a serious lack of women in game ? Or they will reset the character for every player ?

Stupid idea! Let people pick how they want their avatar to look. Random without being able to adjust the appearance will just piss too many people off. I don't care personally if people want to have purple hair and six tits but let me pick my avatar!
