Dark hate to say it, but I'm glade to see someone else post this. I am having the same exact problem. My computer did the same thing. I havent been able to play since June 28th 2015. My CPU usage was at 100% and It started to overheat before i shut it down. Seems like a pretty big issue.
Someone told me to switch to directx 9, and when I launched the game it gave me a blue screen.
I'm having an issue where it freezes on pushing a button to wake up, then it makes windows slow down to a halt unable to run any programs unless you hard reset.

Hmm, that's weird. May I ask you what power supply are you using? and could you describe better how exactly it crashes?
Also, have you tried re-installing the game?
[editline]1st July 2015[/editline]
It's kind of weird why would it, since I have same graphics card, Intel Processor and same amount of ram. By the way, what's your OS?
Try adding the rust folder to your anti virus exceptions. It fixed my issues! it's worth a try.
I have reinstalled but it still crashes my computer. This just started about 4 days ago I have been playing rust since it came out. I'm hoping tomorrows update will fix it.
