(((((((Noticed thread lower.... i will read that first....)))))
For some reason after shutting down rust, the computer goes full dumbass and refuse to start other programs and stuff, it's like Explorer.exe crashes, but if i shut down that process it's still frozen. gets stuck in log out screen if i try that and only way around it to button kill the computer. rust process is gone tho..
I run
Win 7 ultimate 64bit
16GB Ram
MSI ms-7821
Intel i5-4670K 3,40GHz
Nvidia Gforce GTX 660
DirectX 11
Sata drives.
Even made fresh install of windows in case it was something f..up in it.
Anyone else have this problems?

I have this problem also.
Some have indicated that disabling the Steam UI overlay fixes the problem, but at least one person has stated that it made no difference. In that instance it was mentioned that closing Rust by killing the process from the task manager, instead of exiting the game normally, did the trick.
I've yet to confirm this myself though, but it's worth a go.

My thread was also about the same thing. It seems as though it may still be an NVIDIA-related issue, as I feel those with an ATI graphics card posting about the "bug" in question were actually referencing crashes, and not specifically this process bug.
I, too, have to hard restart my computer after exiting. Are all of your processes registering as 32-bit when starting them after exiting Rust?
I'm not sure where this issue is coming from, but it began after the infinite loop update fix about a week or so ago. I'm assuming it's having something to do with the graphics card, because of the ones confirming this particular issue, they all seem to be using NVIDIA cards.
Glad to see somebody else (not glad that you're having the issue, per se) reporting this bug on the forums. Hopefully it will be reviewed and fixed shortly. Until then, I will keep checking the forums for some type of solution, but as of yet I have not seen any solution that allows my computer to not be a brick after exiting the game.
JV - next time I exit, I'll try closing out the Rust process via the Task Manager, but I think I tried it already and it didn't work. However, I will confirm after I close the task later today. Thanks guys :)

AMD R280 here, so probably not limited to just NVidia. I don't suffer any crashes; Rust exits as you would expect. Then nothing works anymore; apps won't open, Windows sits there saying logging off, and it's hard reset time :(
I didn't check whether processes were starting as 32 bit. I would check, but I'm avoiding Rust until a definite answer/fix is available as I worry about screwing my SSD with all the resets.

So far, when trying the end-process via Task Manager instead of Alt-F4 or exiting the game manually, it didn't bug my computer. Twice in a row. I'd try that and see if you can get out baccre. Best of luck, if that fix works as mentioned above, then I would continue exiting rust the Ctrl-Alt-Delete way from now on.
