• Wrong gpu

My game is using the integrated HD4600 instead of my GTX780M. I have all up to date drivers and I have the global and rust profile in 3D settings set to use the nvidia graphiccs card. In every game excluding rust, I see the 780's load increase with GPU-Z. When I play rust my 4600 shoots up to 88c and the GTX's load is 0. Any ideas?
What if you disable it
Can't, it is tied to the laptop display. No bios setting for it and if I disable in device manager it just runs with no gpu.
I tried manually overriding some of the shim flags, but the cheat engine gets pissy when I do.
Right-click on your desktop and set your 780M as your default graphics adapter. Just editing graphics flags is enough to get it angry aparently.
Oooh. And, hm, it freaks out about Nvidia Inspector profiles changing the shim flag? I've been telling people with this problem to do that if changing the default adapter doesn't work. :v: I hope EAC knubbe or one of the others can weigh in.
I actually think a lot people have this problem and just don't know it. A lot of people complain about low fps on high spec laptops and say under f1 it shows their integrated gpu. Everyone says that is just how it always is with optimus, but I think they may be wrong. There is no way this problem is specific to me. If anyone else is getting a problem similar to this, download gpu-z, select your main gpu on the bottom and see if its load goes up when you run the game (in windowed mode). Post your results.
