I've been playing rust for 1500hrs without any problems until 2 days ago when I went to launch the game and it just failed to launch through steam. I get to the "play rust" "play rust x9" and then press "play rust" for which the box closes but then nothing, the process ends there. I have googled the shit out of it and tried all sorts, uninstall..reinstall (rust and steam). However, yesterday I managed to get it to work by simply disabling steam cloud in the settings, the game launched and was able to play. This morning however, I click play rust and the exact same problem even with steam cloud disabled.
There doesn't seem to be a solution on the internet, wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows of a fix, or is it down to the developers to push a fix?
I noticed a lot of people had this problem on vista and windows 8.1, im using windows 7 ultimate.
Thanks in Advance

So, I've been pissing about all day trying to find a work around and this is how I have managed to do it so far....its pretty simple.
Uninstalled Rust (again), reinstalled (again) however, this time checked the box to create a shortcut on desktop......once installed, keep steam open and launch via the desktop shortcut.
OMFG! So after finally getting rust to work yesterday via a desktop shortcut, I just went to launch the game again and it just wont start again!!!!
Its like every time I find a fix, fucking Garry Newman hacks my computer and trolls it! Im sick to death of it now!

ok so I fixed it again, It would seem that there is an issue with permissions. The game will not launch for me unless I 1) Open steam as "Administrator" , 2) Launch the game via the desktop shortcut
