It would be a normal floor tile with a square cut out of the middle (big enough for a person to drop down). Also trap doors could be added and attached to such a flooring.
i like the idea of trapdoors, but the other one. just don't make a floor there, and voila, u got a hole .
I like the idea of a horizontal counterpart for both the doorway and window frame, both with buildable parts. I'm thinking hatches, trapdoors, grated floors for defense/ murder hole/ feeding slaves
I agree, trapdoors would have a cool effect on the way bases are designed. I just think that they should make a ladder on the trapdoor so that you would be able to climb through it.

this allows for ladders to be built on the walls or pillars around the hole
