So my idea is this:
A Riot shield,
it would be equipable from the hotbar and should cover the the player entirely like a moving barricade with small peak holes in it' and while you have equipeded the shield you can only move around and block bullets not shoot or anything
it should maybe be wearable on the back if you have it and the hotbar and unequip
durablity should maybe be around 200 bullet hits from and ak or something ?

Sure why not. Some sort of shields is a must I think.
If Some Sorta Shields come in get ready for my Buttnaked Spartan Army
sounds good. tiered shields, maybe a chunk of wood, followed by a metal one, followed by a large one like a riot shield. should work like armour by obstructing damage.

i had a similar idea. the shield would be bullet proof but take durability damage on consecutive shots allowing someone who's sword and board to get close enough to a gun wielding player to do some damage.
Unstoppableraid teams with riot shields...yeah lets give it to them

the shield would be useless after 2 or 3 shots. it supposed to get you close enough for melee combat. other wise unusable with guns. i don't think its to far fetched for a shield.
I'd really like to see some sort of shield in the game. I think a riot shield may be a bit too much, but you may be able to balance one as long as it had durability and you had to use both hands to hold it up.
I think a medieval type shield would be best. A trash can lid, a street sign, etc. Give it decent durability but only allow it to be used in conjunction with the new melee weapons that are coming out. If you equip it while using a spear, your spear switches to one handed and then only you only do 60% damage or something to that effect.
Could tie it into the new road sign armor and use a stop sign as a shield :). I like the idea of using 1 handed weapons/Tools it would give you the ability to use a spear/club/pistol.
Would be quite nice if it's well designed. 200 bullets is probably a bit too much, 2-3 is definitely not enough. A real life riot shied can take quite a beating before going to shit.
That said, it would have to limit the player to 1h weapons.. No AK/shield combos plz. Pistol only!
Anything that promotes a counter or alternative to offensive play is fine by me.
