I have been trying to play for the last several months, I have tried official servers and modded servers. I have verified my files, reinstalled the game, and launched on every single graphics settings. But every time I connect to a server, I load in, and as soon as the "Receiving Data" portion is complete I get in-game for a split second and then I get the following:
"Disconnected: Timed Out"
Once in a while, I can actually walk around for about 5 seconds before the above happens. During said 5 seconds, no sent chat seems to be received by the server.
I will be frequently checking this forum to keep it updated with any information anyone may need to help me troubleshoot this issue.
Do you have any firewall or antivirus software running? If so, names please.
Are you connecting to your Internet connection via wireless or over a wired Ethernet cable?
Do you have issues with other Steam games?
No issues with any other games, No firewall or antivirus active and i am connected to the router via cord.
What are your system specs? CPU, GPU, RAM, please.
CPU:Intel Core i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
RAM: 16.0 GB
Well, that hardware shouldn't have any problems running Rust (as far as being completely unplayable goes, at least), so it's not that.
When's the last time you rebooted your router? And does it have a firewall enabled?
I reboot my router daily, and i just checked on the router's firewall, it was enabled. I just disabled it, testing now. Will post results!

I would suggest turning the Windows firewall on, now that you've disabled protection from your router, just to be safe. I'm not comfortable advising you to use zero firewalls if up until now you've been behind one (known or not). However, if Rust suddenly stops working, it's trivial to tell the firewall to allow it through.
