• A New Floor that Naturally Protects Against Ladders

I have an idea for floors. Why don't we get a new type of floors that is slightly more expensive, which adds natural protection against ladders. These floors area made of two parts: the normal floor + a small extension which extends outside the wall. Obviously, such floors should be built at the edges of the base only. Raiders can shoot/break these outer extension but the other part stays intact. The extensions have the same health of a normal floor. The only purpose I'm suggesting this, is that it makes base building much easier and faster. You don't have to go through each level of your base and add hanging floors and spend more time on upgrading them. Hanging walls are not necessarily beautiful, so this may help in making bases look more pleasant.
I agree with the fact that bringing ladders into the game made bases to look like shit. I wouldn't solve this by wider floors but some kind of wooden barricades which you could place on the walls. maybe 1/3 size of regular wooden barricade with barbed wire but placeable on the wall. [Deleted] Problem of your idea is that if somebody would destroy your overhang it would destroy a floor inside a base too so you would loose furnaces/chests etc
I get your point, But i'm not sure making building faster and easier is actually the right direction. Of course slick functionality is a must, I mean in terms of our effort to achieve big builds and maintain them.
or they could implement ledges that come in rectangle (for actual edges) and triangle/square (to fill corner gaps)
There should be a special ledge building block in the building plan that won't be as long as the regular floor, that you could later upgrade with spikes or barbwires. All the bases look too fucking retarded now. If you don't agree that our current bases look ugly as shit, then you are a tasteless retard. :suicide: Developers need to get off their ass and make this happen.
Or we could just get build-ables that attach to walls Wood Spikes, Jagged Rocks, Iron Spikes, Barbed Wire

Seems like a band-aid fix to a band-aid fix. If these floors were implemented, no one would use the original flooring anymore. The way to combat ladders SHOULD be expensive and time-consuming, and it should leave you vulnerable to a different type of raiding. It should be a risk-reward. You may be unaffected by ladders, but perhaps you're more prone to melee raiding? You shouldn't be able to just easily swap building types because: A) This renders ladders almost completely ineffective B) Every base would then be built out of that building type, making the old type pointless, make all bases STILL look the same.
i miss bases looking like houses and such, but now they look like shit with all these ceilings sticking outwards
If we whine hard enough, we might see a change in the ~month or so. We can do dis.

The external piece can be destroyed but the actual floor that is covering the inner base will stay.
Seems like a band-aid fix to a band-aid fix. Players will be paying for the cost of the normal floor + the extension piece.
pls help me http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1475236
well i insist on a special kind of hammer that automatically breaks all of these special floors at once because reasons ;) i don't think that the ladders warrant a special block to nerf them. as it is players use floors as overhangs to prevent their use; what does this block offer that they don't other than being easier to place?
Just make floor spikes stick to walls like ladders/signs and make them stronger (similar to other building parts so it requires c4 to remove) and bingo problem fixed.
what does this block offer that they don't other than being easier to place?
it would look a lot less ugly
Give us a New Barricade Type expecialy for walls
I designed a three story base that naturally protect against the placement of ladders without looking like crap (it took me 3 hours in creative mode). However, I have some counter suggestions. I'd rather have the ladders be forced to be touching the wall and the ground (like normal ladders) and allow the players to create different sizes of ladders. Or maybe implement climbing ropes that can grapple onto the edge of a floor that doesn't have a wall on top of it or the edge of a wall.
