According to http://www.rustafied.com/ we won’t be seeing the “Big Secret” any time soon. It’s a real shame that the devs dragged the community along for weeks with this pipe dream. The least they could have done would have been releasing what it was… rather than delay, delay, and ask us to forget about w/e it was.
I know many of us in the community were hoping for 1) a new serve event with the satellite, and 2) weapon mods due to come out this month.
That being said I’m still exited to see what the secret is later on down the road.
The secret is a Items for steam. (In the traslation see this.)
If they released a half finished feature that is riddled with bugs, they would get a much larger backlash than just teasing us with secrets. They did good by holding off on it imo
It seems like a lot of features are partially finished but won't be making it in this week.
- Initial Electricity (status unknown)
- Female Models (Delayed)
- Secret (Delayed)
- Metabolism Making Food and Water more important (Delayed)
- Compound Walls (Delayed/No Model/No Code)
- Inital Tier 2 Furnace (Delayed/Waiting for Second Large Model)
- Initial Pump Jack (Delayed for Electrical Update)
- Generator (Delayed for Electrical Update)
- Windmill (Delayed for Electrical Update)
- Solar Panels (Delayed for Electrical Update)
- Electrical Lights (Delayed for Electrical Update)
- Auto Turret (Delayed/Needs Texture/Animations/Code/Large Turret)
- Two-Handed Sword (Delayed)
Here's to hoping that we see some of these next week.
Two-handed sword are ready in this update. I translate today the name for this weapon to Spanish on the translates section.

No one is asking them to release anything. They could just tell us what the secret is!
Yes, how else are we going to make wild speculations about how it is going to work and freak out about how those speculations will ruin the game.

Well... you might do that but the rest of us would just like to see what is coming down the pipe.... it is Alpha after all...
I realize it's early access with few devs, but work seems slower than necessary.

You should take a look at some of the automated turret panic, and that's just from some concept art.

Garry went on a two week vacation, and he's one of the primary programmers. Now that he's back work pace can pick up again.

Probably because they are mostly working on more than one game.
Somehow they still manage to be faster than other early access games.

The Rust devs are (with very few exceptions) not working on the other prototypes the studio is building. Diogo got kidnapped for a little bit, I think.
Also, work is slower than "necessary"? Way to call the devs lazy on your first post, buddy. :v:

Source? Facepunch isn't just the rust developers.

Dude, updates come faster with this game than any other game I have played on steam. Impatience!!

Try reading the dev blogs. There are two other games that have pulled a dev or two just for a little help for like 1-2 days each, I mean it's not much.
Their other games "Before" and "Deuce" are the ones over the last 20 or so devblogs. It's not something that happens often, but it does happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the devs are awful in any way, I'm really trying to say it's an impressive speed considering they still get dragged into other things on occasion along the way.
When you compare the progression rate of New Rust with something like Space Engineers it really is quite amazing, I mean the Raknet switch for Rust took like 2 weeks, and SE has been doing that in parts for Months.
Also Impressive motivation with the community they have.

I totally agree with Congo on this statement.
