• [Nvidia] I found out how to get SLI to work! HUGE FPS IMPROVEMENT

I usually play at 4k resolution, but I had a lot of trouble with recent patches so I had to go to 1440p. This is due to me not being able to play with SLI after alot of people saying it was impossible I did some configuration changes and found out how to get SLI to work. My system i7-3930k | GTX 980 SLI Before SLI (10-14 FPS) | After SLI Implementation (30-34 FPS) *Your results may vary* You have to remember, these settings are maxed at 2160p (4k), a bit tweaking and you could get a very playable result with SLI. So you want to get it setup? 1. You'll need two things: Nvidia Inspector & EVGA Precision X or any GPU monitor program. 2. Next you'll want to open Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Select Rust.exe > Change SLI rendering mode to Force alternate frame 2. Then Apply settings. 3. Now open up Nvidia Inspector, click on the profile settings. Select RUST from the profiles. Apply these settings under SLI: Nvidia Inspector Settings You'll want to keep those settings the same other than the Number of GPUs to use, obviously change that to the amount of GPUs you have in SLI. EDIT: I forgot to mention you need to add the rustclient.exe to the profile by clicking on Add Application to Current Profile in Nvidia Inspector when you're in the Rust profile. 4. Afterwards select the Show Unknown Settings. Then go to Unknown and change MULTICHIP_OGL_OPTIONS to 0x00000002. Then Apply changes at the top right. 5. For this to work you need Rust in Fullscreen, doesn't matter on the resolution. It just has to be full screen. Open your GPU monitor software and then Rust. 6. When you're in Rust you should see a large indicator that SLI is running, example. If you do not see that, something is wrong. Now look at your GPU monitoring software, this is what GPU2 should look like. It should not look like this, this means your GPU is idling. 7. If everything works you'll want to quit and pull up Nvidia Inspector and set SLI indicator to MCSFRSHOWSPLIT_DISABLED. Please give me your results and system and I'll try and help as much as possible. Thanks! If you need quicker help add me on steam. Tested Setups: GTX 980 SLI GTX 690 GTX 970 SLI Titan X SLI
If you have problems please include a picture of your Nvidia Inspect settings and your second GPU stats in game (monitoring software like precisionx). If you had success please post your GPU setup and frame rate before and after if possible.
Anyone tested? :weeb: Please some feedback
My SLI works fine just play in windowed mode get 60-80 odd FPS all the time on max.
very nice and detailed post, I will try this when I get home tonight. your 4k screens look great!! too bad you need 2 card to just get 30 to 40 fps though, 30 fps is unacceptable in my book, ill stick with 1080 until the gpu technology catches up with the screens.

Also everyone make sure Procedural Virtual Textures are disabled, for whatever reason this causes problems. i guess for SL I you need 2 graphic cards!?
i guess for SL I you need 2 graphic cards!?
You sure do, sorry!
Awesome, can finally get my titans to work then - will let you know if it works, so you can add it to the tested list.

Hi! I'd really like to be able to make it work. I followed every step, but problem is I can not launch RUST in fullscreen. It always launches on borderless windowed mode. Any luck on your side? Thanks :)
Have any luck?
Yes, it works - I have a wooping FPS of 154 (with steam fps overlay). https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/GTXTITANX12GD5/ This is the card(s) working with SLI.
you spent $2,000 just on video cards?? your either really stupid or I smell BS.
Its a fair enough question, maybe I just have job, who knows.
Omg cant wait to try this I have 2x 970 ssc cards. Been playing at 1080 But really want to bump up to 1440. Will be giving this a try later today hopefully all goes well.
After testing sli does work however for me the game becomes very jumpy not smooth at all. Any suggestions?
Are you running in windowed or full screen? Sometimes windowed gives a stutter
Full screen have not tried windowed yet. Also tried vsync on and off still the same.
30 fps on a shooter "Playable framerate" what [editline]12th October 2015[/editline]
WTF man keep your hate for yourself please!
lets be honest though, an sli 980ti would have been a better investment the titan x is like, only SLIGHTLY a more powerful card, in fact, it's like, at best, 9% more powerful he basically wasted 640$ on a build that's like, 5% more powerful there's nothing wrong with a titan x except for the fact that it's a fools purchase [editline]12th October 2015[/editline] I'm going to boot up rust and test it in 4k on a 970
~15 fps, hardly playable for sure :v:
stuttering in both full screen and windowed not sure whats going on. any other suggestions? Phoenix I also added you on steam if you want to chat there.
~15 fps, hardly playable for sure :v:
Yeah, I need 60fps + so I run at 1440p not 4k ATM. Getting 80-100 fps on 1440p, much better
you spent $2,000 just on video cards?? your either really stupid or I smell BS.
I know grown men who drop that every 2 years on gpus. If you have the cash and you get to see it for your own eyes how awesome it is. Big resolution with eye candy costs big bucks Jealousy runs deep in some.
I've tried this before some time ago, I based it on a different unity game's SLI compatibility bits. It technically worked, had a 10fps increase, but it was very jittery. I'll give this a go though as I don't think I changed the multichip ogl options. Is it still the same hex code for any number of gpu's - I have x3 980s??
It is quite a wake up for this thread, and yes I can just afford the gpu, I also just got a third one, because its cheaper to get a third, than to get 2 980 ti's. I got my titan x's before the 980 ti's got on the market. problem solved, now I must go to work, so I can easily pay for these things.
I can confirm this is working. Im currently running 2x 980GTX and a 40" 4k monitor (3840x2160) and get on average 55-60fps on max details. It works fairly well, but i get fps drops from time to time, but I dont think this is related to the SLI as i hear other gets that as well.
some people say SLI sucks because u get micro stutters - now what?
Hi, the links are no longer working - can anyone tell me the specific settings he used? I've tried this before and it never worked so I'm keen to experiment!
