The intention with most of these suggestions are to bridge the gap between melee wielding and gun wielding players during pvp battles. Peppers: Farm peppers, eat peppers, craft to make pepper spray. Mustard: farm mustard, craft to enhance meats, craft to make mustard gas. Water balloons: temporarily extinguish flamethrower, put out fire, it hit; makes payers wet (run slower/ chafe?) Riot helmet (tweak) - should obscure/ tint field of view, but will block the mustard gas and pepper spray Sling shot - you can shoot which ever resources you have (metal frags, metal ore, sulfur ore, stones, water balloons) Alcohol - water should have a risk of getting you sick if not sterilized (water bucket in fire + wood). Alcohol while cheaper to make, by leaving fruit in a bucket, will make character drunk when ingested: while pressing forward on keyboard, character will stray left and right. Field of view will be blurred on peripherals. Molotov - (water bottle + alcohol; must have torch in hot bar): burn baby burn. Others: nets (fishing and pvp [to slow player/obscure view]), Sticky foam (reduces speed) Feel free to add your own suggestions, or comment on the ones above.
Tbh I hate those games that obscure my sight just because I'm wearing a helmet.
A couple of bits of criticism: 1) Pepper spray does not consist of peppers. 2) Mustard gas does not consist of mustard.
Leaving fruit in a bucket doesn't get alcohol, it gives you a maggot infested bucket. Water balloon? Chafing? Some of this stuff just doesn't make sense, it's on the level of getting foxtails in your shoes and making you run slower.
I think the point he's trying to make is have a simplified non-lethal weapon system - mustard gas contains mustard.. while absurd.. would fit into a game well as a simplified system, its actually quite funny! A poison dart would work just as well though! Growing your own poison plants has been kicking around for a bit. I think this is a long way off though.. There needs to be a mechanic in place to give you a reason to incapacitate someone rather than killing them in the first place - something I've been wanting for a while now, remember the handcuff animation they did?
