Hello,
few days ago i've seen that "zap-hosting.com" is offering rust servers now, but until now this company is not listed on the "list of server providers".
Also today i heard some people saying, that zap-hosting.com is offering rust - cracked servers instead of legal ones.
Does anyone know further details ?
Never heard of it.
Looking at their whois info, the Registrant name, Tech admin and Domain admin are all the same person. This usually indicates a small team or one man company.
When researching the owner/tech/admin, translated by my not so good german:
Name: Marvin Kluck
Alter (age) : 19
Beruf (profession) : Wirtschaftsinformatikstudent (Business Informatics Student)
Then we check their server specs:
Advertising with i7-2600 CPU ? Absolutely not a professional. No self-respecting hoster would use consumer grade hardware instead of opteron/xeon.
They are located in: Niehuesstr. 6 , Everswinkel Deutschland which seems to be a civillian area, not industrial area. Which could also means its some dude hosting from his house.
IMO, stay way ;)
Well, i see here that the servers are hosted in Frankfurt ( industrial area ) but i would like if someone from the devs or someone who knows more about them could tell us if they are authorized
Garry has stated that no more hosts will be taken on at the moment and they are not on the wiki page of authorized hosts so I really would stay clear of it!
Friend of mine has two servers
1 - Zap:

2 - authorized provider:

Both Servers are freshly new - installed
Im not sure what that proves, are you saying they are or arnt? There are leaked server files. I believe it is still the case that Rusty (My rcon admin tool) can not connect to the leaked server files, that would be one way to test it. Either way I dont believe that they are authorized.
I downloaded the rust crack files now for testing, exact the same data structure ! I cant believe that a provider does such illegal cases.

Edit: Facepunch is now informed there may not be anyone providing illegal cracks as rust server.
Yes they provide cracked servers :v: I think they don't even know it. I won't bother telling them. Waiting for more epic things to happen.
Well so does gameservers.com I guess?
No, Gameservers.com are legit. http://playrustwiki.com/wiki/List_of_Server_Providers
Well, we need someone to check this, is here someone having a server there with same data structure ? Im asking this because they also came after the statement, that there will be no providers added anymore.
Maybe they are allowed to host Rust Servers or they doesn't even know that these server files may be cracked?! ... :-/
Rumors are shit, so ... wait what the Dev's or Zap-Hosting self says.

If they were allowed, they would have the steamcmd setup instructions, so i guess they are to stupid to download via steamcmd or using crack.
Edit2:
Maurino is also contacted, as soon we have a answer i let you know.
Edit3:
I saw a comment from a customer on their facebook page asking why they are offering cracked servers, 10 min laters the comment was gone.
I doubt they are allowed. I've searched for rust host providers and every possible variable i could think off and there are a LOT of fake providers that either sell cracked rust servers or they just resell from one of the oficial providers with a larger price.
Either way that list needs to be updated and checked. I already posted this before in this forum and i got a lot of " dumb " and joke comments.
Before you buy any rust servers i really advise you to double check if the host is legit and capable of hosting a rust server.
I saw that garry was watching this topic, it would be great if he can give us some kind of answer.
Edit:
This guy still pretends to have the official files, what a liar.
the big problem in germany is:
there are only crappy bad and very small providers like deinserverhost. Providers, owned by young kids with no server hosting experience. The performance and support is bad.
I don't know if zap hosting is authorized, but for me it is the same.. i have virtual servers at zap hosting and the service is best. I think it is also best for rust.
So if zap is not authorized: who cares? Garry go for authorize good hosters like zap and not those crappy hosters...
Have a better idea, going to police station, make a complain, they have to remove crack.
Submitting DeinServerHost as crap is also wrong, for these case we have lawyers, offering cracked software is illegal, pretending it is legal and doing this is still illegal.
This guy has to go behind swedish curtains.
If you are not able to submit a support ticket to DeinServerHost nobody can help you, but if you do, they'll help you to work your problem out. Sometimes it starts with a small malconfigured plugin.

when I start a support ticket it sometimes takes days or weeks until I get any response. Mostly, the problem is not solved then. Deinserverhost is crappy

Then you sadly choosed the wrong support system, they have a support system only for rust services. There you get your answer fast. Please send me a private message and i look trough it.
But back to topic, we are not writing about DeinServerHost here.

the wrong support system? A provider should handle their support requests, so the customer get support trough all provided support systems.
By the way: You are from deinserverhost? Haha afraid of being poked from the pure monopoly of hosting rust servers in germany? That is poor :D
the wrong support system? A provider should handle their support requests, so the customer get support trough all provided support systems.
We have two support systems, one integrated into the rust panel and one on the normal page. The normal called "manual system" goes away in the next weeks completely for rust. It is only supposed to be for minecraft, and source games.
And now finally back to topic !
€ we are not afraid of a "monopoly" regarding streamline servers only one in australia .. , we hate it if someone uses illegal cracks and call them "legal version" so i think you are marvin the guy from zap ? What a shame that you spam my email account and don't answer to my lawyer.
[editline]14th March 2014[/editline]
And before you are posting wrong statements like only host in germany, what is with
PlayRust
Nitrous
Deamon Servers
Gameservers
They are all offering in germany too.
Never heard of it.

don't post dox, ever
doesn't matter if it's public or not
Can i rent a server from ZAP-Hosting? Or is this illegal what they are doing?
don't post dox, ever

I wouldn't call a Whois on a server provider "doxing" though. I would call that legitimate consumer information. That would be like if I said Microsoft is run by Bill Gates and then claiming I just doxed Bill Gates. Zap-hosting, legit or not is a company run by someone and players have a right to know who.
