I know this is a question that I should of asked a long time ago, but what are the advantages of using the .gma addon format instead of the legacy addon format?
workshop - it's easier to create/delete one file than creating/deleting entire folders.
.gma addons are faster to load than a legacy addon ( folder addon )
.gma addons are faster to load than a legacy addon ( folder addon )
Is there a reason why it loads faster? If it is the same files just put into a single file what would make it load faster? [editline]1st January 2015[/editline] Oh and could you be more specific? How fast do you think it would take to load with the legacy format vs using the .gma format?
Servers can more easily process one file rather than multiple directories worth of addon content.

Gma's are also self updating.
Okay, thanks for the answers, but I have one more question. If I subscribed to an addon, copied the GMA, then unsubscribed and put the addon in there, would it load up at the same speed?
You will need to put into into a folder inside addons for a non-workshop .gma to load. ( i.e. garrysmod/addons/gmas/mygma.gma )
