Garry's Mod randomly goes black and minimizes and I can't restore it.

This is only happening to me in source games. Whenever I play Gmod I join my favourite dark rp server and after about 3-7 minutes my gmod screen will just go black. To get out of this i need to press the windows key. I can still HEAR the game but when I try to restore garry's mod it wont let me. Not sure what is causing this. Help?

Seems to be a pretty common problem apparently. There are a few other threads in this forum about it but I don't think there is any known solution aside from all the normal steps of verifying, removing addons, reinstalling, etc.
