It's actually quite easy using SteamCMD. You'll need to download the Mac version but everything else should be the same ( aside from using .bat but I'm sure Mac has something similar; if not just run the commands in console ) [url]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26074909/tutoring/server_srcds_steamcmd/setting_up_a_server_with_steamcmd.lua.html[/url]
The trouble-shooting guide should help you; try removing srcds ( mac version ) and re-verify.
