OKAY, so this server I play on started encountering some weird issues. The server was not mis-configured, no files had been touched in 2 days. It was restarted a few hours before, but It was running perfect, then all of the sudden, newly joining players were encountering errors. Their classes were "unassigned", their RPnames would not show, they couldn't see any of there own info. Eventually everyone got it, and we thought a restart would help. It didn't do anything. We changed the server over to 3 other game modes, which worked fine. has anyone ever heard of this? And if they could help out, it would be greatly appreciated.
This server is a roleplay server, and runs on DarkRp.
Perhaps someone fucked up in making the jobs? I take it this server is NOT yours?

If you werent stupid, you would have read that the server was working fine for a while BEFORE the error occured.

Did you try running a steam update from your control panel just incase and make sure you have the svn to darkrp?

According to Optimal, the server doesnt use an SVN.
The server wouldnt allow players to join if there was a steam update (Server is using an older verison of the game)
Besides why would those things cause this problem after the server runs problem free for hours?
Dunno Dark rps weird like that because of all the overlapping coding and stuff if you dont use svn sometimes itll get crashy.

Make sure your cache is up-to-date.
If the cache is fine, make sure all of the players delete their current cache folder and rejoin the server.
I remember this fixing it for an RP server I used to manage.

If you script one thing wrong in the DarkRP jobs then it can easily screw it up. Actually really badly. But if the admins/ the owner cant get their head out of their ass and do something, then it isnt a good server. (Sorry for curssing, but bad admins/owners shouldent have servers)

So RPnames arnt being set correctly on the server apperently
Try adding "lua_log_sv 1" to the server's startup config (usually server.cfg) and then check if a "lua_errors_server.txt" file is created in the garrysmod root. If it is, paste it's contents here.

This makes me think that the custom edits to DarkRP have caused problems, you will likely need to ask the person that made the edits to fix the problems that they caused.

Ima ignore everyone else, and answer OP's question.
This usually happens when the server can't upload the information, and datastream seemingly breaks.
Of course, there's no way to prevent this, but you can do the following:
Increase your rate to 30000, sv_maxrate 30000, and sv_minrate 30000 on the server.
Optimize the Update rates.
Here's how:
If you have a 66 tick server, maxupdaterate 67, and min is 66. If you're on 33, than max is 34, min is 33.
Set your FPS to 1 over your tickrate to optimize the FPS for the best performance.
Now, get a higher upload speed, and I also heard that MySQL can cause issues.
MySQL also can help, if setup correctly.

Well dispite all this work, the server was put on the DarkRP SVN
The problems gone, But "All the custom codes are gone QQ"
I feel like I could have done more, so I'll be assisting with the transfer of the (non overwriting) code
