Please help, I have tried deleting the clientregistry.blob and ending hl2.exe (it isnt there when I check). I really want to play gmod but this has been going on for a couple weeks, and I can't find any fixes.

I think AVG was causing the problem for me check the list of bad things that might cause steam to be bad.
