i got a new 32 inch tv to serve the purpose of being both my monitor and tv, and it works like a charm except for one thing: my old monitor was not widescreen, so in gmod i have the two annoying black bars on either side of the actual game. not a problem, right? so i go to my graphics settings, and change the aspect ratio from the lowest to the second highest (the highest i could select) and chose that and...nothing happens. restart gmod: nothing happens. it is still in (for lack of a better vocabulary) non-widescreen. not being a man of computer-knowledge, i am out of ideas. can anyone help?
Choose the other widescreen option.
Uhh this is on Highlights why?
is not on highlights. its on new threads
Choose the other widescreen option.
there are three options: the one that it is on, the one that i want, and the one that i cant select, to say, it is black and i cannot highlight it.
Oh it got changed I see.
Choosing Widescreen by itself doesn't do anything (I know, it's a bit weird). First choose Widescreen, and then choose your Resolution (the box right above it). Since you have a 32" TV, I would try the highest resolution that is supported first. If that doesn't look right, go down the list and try each one until you find one you like. If the edges of the picture are cut off (some TVs do this), then you'll have to go into your video card settings and either zoom it out or create a custom resolution. It depends on your video card and the TV.
Oh it got changed I see.
No worries, I thought the same thing and wondered if the moderators were on crack highlighting really bad threads for a moment :v:
I don't know if you fixed it, but If you have an NVIDIA card (With the latest drivers), you can change it so it stretches to fill the screen. Right click on desktop > Nvidia control panel > Display > Adjust desktop size and position Under the "scaling" tab, check the "Full-screen" thingy. This fixed some black bars I was seeing when using different resolutions (It stretches the screen to fit, like I said earlier). If you have an ATI Graphics card, I can't help you with that :v:
