this is the directory garrysmod is creating.
when i delete it and start garrysmod it recreates the same directory

this is my real garrysmod directory with all my addons

the folder with garrysmod is named "5870149353611bc8baff0eddab7e7316" there is no record of an account like that im the only one on this computer who bought garrysmod
what is going on the directory C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\5870149353611bc8baff0eddab7e7316\garrysmod is a clean install and its ignoring my copy of garrysmod with the addons
why is this folder being created and how can i stop it
The proper directory structure should have two garrysmod folders.
steam/steamapps/user/garrysmod/garrysmod
I guess that hash is your "proper" account.
You have put all the folders inside "steamapps/<user>/garrysmod/garrysmod" inside "steamapps/<user>/garrysmod", which gives you the weird structrure. You may have overwritten something.
