Good Morning/Afternoon/Midnight
I have been looking for a solution to this problem and have found it fair to post it here.
My GMod has been running exceptionally slow for some reason. I use to play GMod at least 1 time a day for about a month but stopped to focus on other things. In the time I use to play every day my FPS would be in the 100s and overall ABOVE 60. I played MURDER a few days ago and noticed it was very laggy, when I was a bystander I had around 35 FPS, then when I became the murderer, I had around 23 FPS. I thought this was just the server, or since I never played Murder maybe it had something to do with that. Today, I log on and wanted to play Sandbox with a friend, I go into sandbox only to notice an average of 35-38 FPS, and I decided to lower my graphical settings ( mind you, the settings had been pretty much untouched before that and most things were on high/med ) so I lower all my graphical settings down, no difference. I lower my resolution down to 1280x720, nothing. So I'm not sure what I should do please help!

i7 2600
GTX 530
12 GB of RAM
1 TB Hard Drive

I haven't updated my GPU drivers in a while.
I haven't tampered or changed any setting with my graphics card.
I have changed a "multicore rendering" or some setting like that, in the GMod settings ( again no difference ).
This HASN'T happened in other games that I have played, which are mostly the escapists and a little bit of minecraft.

Im sorry for my lack of knowledge on Source Engine, all I know is that all/most Valve games run on it.
But what happened to Source Engine, did some update come that made the games more CPU/GPU intensive or is my hardware outdated? I will check my other games to see if they are affected as well.

No, Source engine is fine. It runs well on most computers. Gmod however, is a modified source engine, and however it was done, caused it to be more intensive than other source games. With multi-core rendering not able to actually work, enabled or disabled, and some other things, Gmod is more intensive. Usually after awhile, Gmod will download enough workshop things and server stuff, eventually it will slow down. When I installed fresh, it ran and loaded faster than now. If anything, addons have an impact on performance too.
