Using firearms in Stronghold cause FPS to drastically drop, even freeze

Well, a buddy and I were playing around in stronghold the other day.
I'm starting to actually get into it more, as I am a fan of the gamemode.

Anyway, I connected to a certain server the other day.
I noticed a problem immediately: Firing anything causes my FPS to freeze until I stop. When other people fire near me, the problem ensues. This basically made the game unplayable.
I connected to a server I played fine on before, and to my dismay, the issue persists.

I honestly don't have much information that is significant.
On any server (with the exception of the source of the problem), I see the following on the top left corner of the screen.

Current version: 1.13.173
[/B]
I can offer the server that prompted the issue, if needed.

I honestly have no idea what course of action I should take, so please assist me in the matter.

I don't see why the servers version would just do this, doubting that is the case.
Maybe your settings are a bit to high? Try lowering them, turn on Vsync, this makes it so the max amount of FPS Gmod can reach is 60. In reality, our eyes can only really notice frame drops under 32 FPS.

Wait, how is that relevant...?
The game runs smoothly until I shoot something.
When I shoot, it "freeze-lags".

My point of the version outdated is that there is no stronghold 1.13.173. That's version by the server alone, which signifies that it did some serious shit.

Some people have lag issues due to muzzle flashes and smoke. I get people complaining about it all the time.

It's not muzzle flash nor smoke.
Everything worked fine until the server loaded whatever crap it had onto my machine.
I wish I could undo it but I'm incapacitated there.

We can't help with private gamemodes. Ask the author.

You can delete all the downloaded server content in your Steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/download/ and also in Steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/downloads/server/ if you feel what the server downloaded is causing the issue.
