1. Steam 2. If you have a desktop as an alternative, no 3. Steam (make sure the laptop's video card supports DirectX 9 too) 4. Normal controls (WASD, mouse, etc.) 5. Yes, however, it will be hard to use because of the spawn menu and derma controls 6. Join a Prop Hunt server 7. CS:S for material/models/maps content 8. Totally depends on the laptop's specs
First of all, not all laptops are of the same quality, since I have no info on what laptop you have, it could be some 2005 junker with a 15 GB HD, I couldn't tell you with certainty whether or not you can run Gmod, let alone GTA V. In order to get Gmod, you're going to need STEAM, and I would make an account while the application is downloading. Before you go wasting time and money on Gmod, I would first download Team Fortress 2, using STEAM. It's a free to play game on the same engine as Gmod, and if you can run TF2 you can run GMod. If TF2 runs laggy at first, try going into Options > Video and turning the graphics down. If on all low your laptop can not play TF2 at a smooth framerate I would not persist further. Assuming your laptop can handle TF2, the games you're going to want to buy is Gmod, Counter Strike Source, Half Life 2, and Half Life 2 Episode 2. All together you should have TF2, Gmod, CSS, HL2, and HL2 EP2 for a total of $48 (TF2's a free to play, don't forget). You may be wondering why you need CSS / HL2 / HL2EP2 / TF2. That's because Gmod is a sandbox game which "borrows" content from other source engine games. Without those other source engine games, you can not see the content! You will be missing textures and models, beyond being a huge eyesore you won't know what you're interacting with so I would highly recommend buying those games. If you want to save money you can just get Counter Strike Source with Gmod, that will be the most common textures and models you will interact with.
