I have had a full featured DarkRP server running for about a month now with no playerbase. I have staff, a forum, good maps, and custom content.
Any advice would be great.
No one wants to join an empty server, so it stays empty, causing more not to join. I suggest you get some friends on and play by yourselfs. Wait for others to join and build a community.
Or your servers just suck.

1. You have no player base causing you to have a low rank.
2. Your server is hosted at your house with a bad internet connection. (Causing Lag)
3. You have a large amount of custom files that need to be downloaded ( People hate waiting )

1. Get some friends to fill the server up ( People like playing servers that have players)
2. Get your server hosted by a company that is at a data center connected to lots of ISP's
3. Configure your server to download off the steam workshop! it take the download time way down!
here is a way to get more people on your server you get a bunch of friends on it and let them mess around on it to get it a higher rank and more players than once you have a good amount of players you tell them the rules an what they are and are not supposed to do
Why is your DarkRP Server empty?
Becuase DarkRP is extremlly oversaturated in the gmod community. Lets face it, theres essentially for every person playing gmod 1 darkrp server for them.
Also words of advice. Before you went full out you should have started small, have unique things and a good rp and then work on getting more staff, forums content etc.
People play darkrp for the stupidest reasons honestlly. I personally either play it realisticlly or plain out sillyness. Not in between honestlly. And "Custom" has become the new "same old mediocre bullshit."
Maps... theres very few good ones to use for roleplay that work with G13 sadlly and everyones too confortable with downtown and evocity. Both which are ugly and crapilly made maps.
Also i wouldnt complain about an empty server. I would complain about one being full. Why? An empty server you can work at will to improve it and do not have to worry like AT ALL about server drama and the like. With a full server or one near full, it becomes a hassle.
How to get people in your server?
Be unique and patient. Be different, prove you have alot to offer and dont overstart at the getgo. Simple as that.

Because it's DarkRP. There are hundreds of them. Add FAST-DL to your name and some other stupis shit like *Looking for Staff* maybe add something along the lines of *Custom Classes*, and people who play DarkRP are always looking for "serious rp" so adding "Serious RP" to your server name might help as well. Oh I almost forgot, make up some stupid clan tag and stick it at the beginning of your server title :) Hope this helps!
