When I play online in Garry's Mod, my latency often gets so bad that the game is unplayable. My connection is fine otherwise, so I don't see what should be the problem. Moved, sorry didn't notice subforum.
That speed should be enough to play the game. Are you sure it isn't the FPS? In Garry's Mod latency isn't really a problem unless it's higher then 200 ms. Turn on net_graph 1 in console while playing and tell me your FPS. Also, the server can be the problem, furthermore, turn on net_graph 4 and at the very bottom of the net_graph you should see a blue line, if there pops up any red stuffs down there, it's the server that's lagging. You can also notice if the server lags by watching over the "sv" in the net_graph.
Where is the server you are playing on located? It also could be the host they are using.
First you need to locate where the problem is. That test only shows the speed between you and Copenhagen. Ping your router (Wireless or wired) Eg Ping 192.168.1.1 in CMD. It should be 1-3 MS If you are using wireless and have a poor single or metal objects near your computer or AP then your ping will be much higher. If that is ping is low move onto your modem. Ping your GW, if it is above 10M/s then the problem is between your computer and GW. Also if using Windows disable any third party firewall and use Windows (Windows works just fine; your not important enough for a hacker to take him time to hack it). If you're ping between your computer and GW then ping www.google.com. If Google responds with a low ping then the problem is not located between your computer, GW, DSLAM and Google. Therefor it is the server. If everything pings slow turn off Bittorrent and try again. If everything still pings slow contact your ISP.
I'm running two 6950's in crossfire, a i5 2500K and 8 gb 1600mhz ram. My fps stays over 100 atleast. The lag is not constant but lag spikes, and I asked the other players at the server if they were experiencing it , and they weren't. I'll try the net_graph 4 thing when I get home from school.
http://www.pingplotter.com/ Export the pp2 or png file and post it here (if you feel unsafe, take out the local and first external IP)

Do you see that blue line on the very bottom of the net_graph, and there's a red thing to the right, that's a lag from the server. Keep looking for those.
Does "lerp: 100.0 ms" mean anything? I had a server that played fine, and it had lerp 30 or 60 can't remember. Thanks for the fast reply.
The higher the lerp, the less smooth it was going to be.
Once the sv and/or lerp turns yellow or red, the server loses FPS for a short amount of time.
lerp does not matter in Garry's Mod really. It's just for the lag reduction (no... not the word I was searching for.) Well, I don't currently remember what it was called. Make a traceroute to the servers hostname/IP, not google ;)
