Garrys Mod start up freeze.

When I start up Garrys Mod its gets done loading at the face punch screen but then just goes blue.
I really have no idea what to do here. This has never really happened until today :c

Try to run game in window with low resolution. What kind of error do you see when Garry's Mod locks up? If you have JIT debugger set, it'll kick in on crash.

I have the same issue. I get a black box in the upper left corner of my screen, and sometimes I see the Steam Community prompt, but otherwise it just hangs after the Facepunch logo. Running the game in windowed mode just brings up "(Not Responding)" in the title bar.

Addendum: Task Manager shows that awesomium_process.exe and gameoverlayui.exe are running, but hangs anyway.

Further addendum: Deleting/renaming Addons folder does nothing. Uninstalling CS:S does nothing. Reinstalling Gmod does nothing.

I got same story here, just different case. awesomium_process.exe crashes on me while Garry's Mod is in "Post init systems" causing game to hang up. I can confirm also that removing addons and reinstalling game does nothing.

you may not see "awesomium_proces.exe has stopped working" or something like that.

Yup, exactly the same. I have to go to task manager to shut Garry's Mod down. I tried waiting but nothing happens.

I've been having the same problems myself. I think it was the latest update. I might have gotten it to work the first day, but after that it would just go blue screen of death with a black rectangle at the top-left.

Garry's Mod has stopped working on me before update 160. Invalid certificate may be cause of the problem.

I restarted steam in offline mode and Gmod seems to run with no problems. Hope this works for everyone else.

I've had this problem since gmod 13 came out! I haven't been able to play since. My game always freezes on startup with a blue screen

This is exactly what happened to me as well. I tried everything PianoMan tried and It's still not working. Any help?

I might have found a fix, it has to do with porting games and stuff. Make sure all source games are running on the new steampipe thing. Fixed mine.

My copy just broke again. For a while it was running well; after I started it in offline mode once, going back online in steam made it run normally with no hiccups. Now it doesn't seem to work either way.

I just updated all my games to the new steampipe thing. Works fine.
