• Portforwarding Issue

I've portforwarded ports 27005-27030 on tcp and udp.. Whenever I run a server via GMod (not LAN) and I run a port tester on it, it says the port is closed.. Windows 8.1 AT&T U-Verse. Portforwarding works for Minecraft, and the tester also does indeed work. Any suggestions?
It could be the firewall. Try disabling the firewall and see if the ports are open. I had to remove my firewall for it to work. If you don't have a firewall then allow the ports through windows firewall
Okay, well I got it working for a little bit, but then it stopped working, and here's what I've seen. Portforwarding seems to be correct, I have 27000-27100 open, along with 4380. Whenever I do status in-game, it says the IP it's being hosted on is 192.168.1.136:27015. I think this is the issue, because it's not running on the public IP. When my friend joins via the steam ingame menu, it's attempting to join with the public IP setup, so I need to know how to make the server run on my public IP. Any suggestions?
That's because when you join your own server, you're joining a local IP. If the public IP isn't working, then it's a firewall issue. That, or you have sv_lan set to 1.
My friend is joining via the public IP. I've disabled windows firewall and portforwarded correctly. sv_lan is set to 0.
Do you play on the same computer you host on?
It's a local/listen server. (I'm not purposing this is a server 24/7, It's just for my friends and I to play around whenever we want.) Therefore, yes.
Try putting port 27016 in your server.cfg located in garrysmod/cfg. Also, put the line server.cfg in your autoexec.cfg.
What would be the line I'd put in my server.cfg (which is currently empty)? Also, would the contents of the autoexec.cfg be:
server.cfg
1. port 27016 2. Yes
1. port 27016 2. Yes
Would that be
-port 27016
? *I added the dash before the port
No. That's for a dedicated server's startup.bat, not a server.cfg. - and + in a startup.bat is a flag for a command.
1. port 27016 2. Yes
I have tested this. The autoexec (I think) printed Unknown command "server.cfg" to the console. The server.cfg seemed to do nothing. I didn't add the - to the port. I added you on steam before I read your profile, ignore the invite I guess.
Oops, it's exec server.cfg, not just server.cfg.
Unknown command "port". I'm not really sure if you can change the port in the server.cfg, I think it's command-line only..
It used to be able to be changed via the server.cfg; I guess it was removed. I don't know what your issue could be then if your firewall isn't blocking it and you have your ports properly forwarded. Did you forward to your local IPV4 address? Also, do you have any antivirus programs?
Ooo, antivirus. Lemme go disable them. I portforwarded to 192.168.1.136, but I'll go review it. [editline]30th March 2014[/editline] Anitviruses: off. Portforward 27000-27100, 4380 to local IP 192.168.1.136, which is correct. Restarted router, had multiple people test, restarted computer numerous times.. I don't know what else to do?
- snipped -
I have the same issue. Is it safe to say that LS's are broken?
I have the same issue. Is it safe to say that LS's are broken?
Ehh, I don't really know what the real problem was, but I fixed it by putting my computer into DMZplus mode on my router. (directing all traffic toward my computer)

(directing all traffic toward my computer)
Mind explaining - linking me a way to do that? I would appreciate it! Side note: What is the price of doing that? Does it take off firewall or anything?
