Everytime I hit an NPC, some squares pop out along with the blood effects

Could I have installed something that messes with the stuff?

Any addons that replace explosion and blood sprite effects? if so, remove them?
Otherwise, perhaps you got some other addon that replaces those sprites, or you have some files in your garrysmod folder that is replacing those textures. (I think it would be in the sprite folder but i could be wrong)
What games do you have mounted?
I want to say its with addative or something along those lines but im not sure
