I am brand new to model making, and by looking at some of the tutorials I just don't get it.(it doesn't help that they are all outdated either) I am just trying add a simple model to Garry's Mod, I have GUIStudioMDL but I don't have the tool paths it says it needs. I have set up the .qc file and made my models, but I also come to the issue that my Garry's Mod folder does not have a "Models" folder already included in it. So I guess the question is 1)How do I get GUIStudioMDL to work and 2) How do I do all the rest of the stuff that needs to be done to compile a model. Thanks in advance :)
GUIStuidoMDL's paths are broken; you'll have to add them manually using the add button. Also, just create the models folder yourself.
How exactly do I create the paths?
Click the add button?
I probably didn't post it write in the question I have this error. "*ERROR* EP1 tools path is not valid - use "Config" then "Set EP1 Tools Path..." from the menu to set it.
*ERROR* Orange Box tools path is not valid - use "Config" then "Set EP1 Tools Path..." from the menu to set it.
" I don't have either of those folders anywhere on my computer.
Make sure you have sourceSDK installed, on another note, It's been absolutely ages since I tried to compile any models but remember having an incredibly hard time getting the path's to work until one day it just clicked, and then very recently I tried doing it again and I can't get it to work again, the path's are perfect, everything's as it should be, but it still complains that the path is not valid.
The program still looks for (username) paths, and you'll have to manually set them to common everytime you start the program.
Is their a tutorial on how to do all this, again I am fairly new to it.

I forgot I had to do a lot of custom stuff with the gameinfo.txt; I'll create a tutorial soon.
Well is their anyway you can just tell I am kind of on a deadline.
No, because there's a lot of stuff you have to modify and move with all the new steampipe junk. It's something I would have to create a tutorial about.
Could I get a link to the tutorial when you post it?

Sure, I'm actually waiting for Valve to finish up all their Steampipe SDK updates before I release it due to that it will change quite a bit.
Is their an ETA on this because the person I am doing it for I getting very pissed off at me.
Short term solution: place GUIStudioMDL in common/Half-Life 2/bin
Put these files in here with it: http://puu.sh/56iJW
Before you compile, click the add button and navigate to common/Half-Life 2/bin and select the .txt file.
Listen. I am a complete noob that has no idea how to do any of this and I really need a step by step guide on how to do this so that I can get my job done as fast as I possibly can and the person that I am doing this job for will stop being angry at me in real life. Please help me.
Just do what I said above. Place the text file in the directory I listed above, and when it's time to compile, press the "add" button that I pointed to many times with red arrows. What part don't you get?
